I didn't think they did pre-season top 25 this early in the year. Outside of Notre Dame.. most everything.... almost...looks ok... Also... do they have the numbers right on our returning starters? I can only think of 3 we're losing on offense and I have a hard time counting Leon since we lost him so early. Also, did Gatling start on defense? I don't remember him being on the starting roster, because that's the only LB I figure they are talking about when they say we lose 3 starting at that position.

I don't believe the AP or coaches polls come out until August.

Until then, you'll see any number of preseason polls come out from individuals, websites, magazines, wherever else.

I believe the lsusports.net yearly compiles a list of the preseason polls that come out, and they do a poll average. Usually by the time the "official" polls are ready to come out, the poll average they have up is pretty close to what the AP and Coaches will look like.

5 of 6 West teams in top 25 (Bama #2, LSU #4, AR #8, AU #17, and State #24) + only two from the East (USCe #11 and FL #23)

No matter 'who' does a poll, the West will be brutal next year.

I think it'll be wide open.

4 teams from the West lose their QB (McElroy, Masoli, Newton, and Mallett), and at least 3 of those were big parts of their team's offense.

Playmakers like Mark Ingram, Julio Jones, Terrance Tolliver, and DJ Williams are gone.

Alabama, LSU, and MSU all lose their left tackles. You also lose your center, and I'd say those are the two most important OL positions. Auburn loses their left tackle and 3 other OL starters. Arkansas loses 3 OL starters, including both tackles.

Auburn loses probably 7 defensive starters, including the biggest (Fairley). Arkansas loses a handful of key players on defense. You obviously lose McPhee, White, and Wright on defense. We lose our entire DT rotation and about 4 starters in our back 7 as well.

Bama does return most of their defense. LSU returns a whole bunch on offense and a lot on defense, but they lose Nevis, Sheppard, and Peterson, all big keys on their D this year.

I'd say Bama and LSU have to be the early favorites in the West. LSU's key losses will be on defense, while Bama's will be on offense. Arkansas won't be far behind them, though they have to figure something better out on defense, and I still think their offense will miss Mallett more than they think. Wilson is a solid QB, but he can't stretch the defense like Mallett.

I think Auburn will have a hard time finishing in the Top 25 next year. 7-5 may be realistic for them, at best. You should have another solid year, but I don't think you're ready to crack that top 3. I have no faith in us right now primarily because of the defense. If we don't do something about our defense, it doesn't matter how good our offense is next year, it won't be good enough.

I agree about AU, if everyone leaves as expected, they will have a tough time finishing in top 25. I think it's between Bama and LSU. I know they both lose people, but they have players just as good sitting on the bench, which sucks.

Having Arkansas at number 8 preseason is ridiculous. They play @Bama, home against TAMU, home against SC, home against MSUand @LSU. I see them losing at least 2 next year, but 3 is pretty conceivable. They will lose 1 of those home games, and I expect them to lose both on the road.
.
I agree RebelBruiser we aren't ready to make the jump yet, butI think 24th might be a little low for us. We should win 8 games in the regular season. If we get 9 wins includingthe bowl game, we will be in the Top 20 again. Bama and LSU are in the right spot, SC is maybe in the right spot, but they have some tough games, and a legit non conference schedule. Florida is probably in the right spot too. But Auburn is ranked way too high. They should lose at least 5, maybe 6. They get us at home, @Clemson, @Arkansas, @SC, @LSU, @UGA, home against Bama, Florida, and OM. That's 8 games where they may be favored in2 or 3of those.

Look at the UAB game, I know it was a let down game, but when Brignone came back in the second half our line finally clicked to blow them off the ball.

Have they not spotted a trend yet? Just put Bama or LSU at #1.

what's a conversation on the sixpack about the SEC West without you or one of your buddies reminding everybody Ole Miss has a chance. And your offense without Masoli making damn near every play will be fun to watch.

I'm sure Arkansas will travel well to that, but TAMU will have a lot more fans there. That will be a tough game for Arkansas.

I expect TAMU to have one of their better teams in a while next year. They should be pretty good. I think Arkansas will have a tougher time in that game than the last 2 meetings.

Didn't we play the whole Florida game without JC at center? I'm really not that worried. JC said Dillon Day is good enough to start next year and if he doesn't Saulesbury did a nice job filling in for JC at center.

Gabe Jackson(LG), Tobias Smith(LT), Saulesbury(C), Addison Lawrence(RG), Damien Robinson or Blaine Clausell(RT)...that sounds pretty solid to me. Could switch Damien and Tobias too.

and Hanrahan was the 4th on offense.
