How many of these guys actually play, and do most play the whole game? Only 26 on the roster...

I'll tell you tomorrow. I will be there tonight because my son now plays for Madison St. Joe. Well, he's on the roster, doubt he'll play as a freshmans. Going to be tough few years in the future when he plays against my alma mater.

and maybe 15-18 people played a down besides special teams. Most everyone played both sides of the ball.

when did that happen?

And most will play both ways. My junior year I actully never stepped off the field for a play for 9 straight games. RB, WR, Slot, tight end (for end arounds...too funny), deep snapper, kick return, punt team, kicked off, outside linebacker, inside linebacker, corner, and safety. I was a bit tired when the season was over. It was confusing as hell to get moved around that much.

/and no, I do not have a Bundy story where I scored 4 TDs in one game. just giving an example of how much a small school has to depend on you when the team doesn't have ANY depth

GSJ is much improved from last year, but really have no idea what St. Al has. I know St. Al won last year by a touchdown. GSJ beat Riverside last night 21-20. I also had Bubba Booth back in high school here in GVL.

I'm asking because I don't know. Given that St. Al plays in the MHSAA, it seems like that wouldn't have always been horribly difficultto arrange. Unfortunately, in light of our recent history, a respectable showing by St. Al may notbe horribly difficult to arrange today.

St. Al has a winning record v. Warren Central and may be undefeated against them.

/of course the last time we played them was around 1975.

Did St. Al. play Vicksburg or was it Carr Central back then? I think Vicksburg was the bigger school until the 80's.

So when Warren Central started winning, St. Al stopped playing them, sounds like something TSUN would do...

when the 4-5 county schools consolidated.

Carr Central became Cooper in1960 (I think).Itwas integrated with Temple, the black school, over a period of years in the early 1970s to form Vicksburg High.

I thinkWarren Centralprobably surpassed Vicksburg in size in the mid-to-late 1970s.

my dad has some really crazy stories about the first football season there. Since it was a consolidation of many rival schools they had a ton of fights within the team, ala Sidney, and on the field. </p>

sure that is right about playing Vicksburg. Now, it may not have been called vicksburg high, but my older relatives had a ton of stories about playing the vicksburg public school and all the fights that occurred. They told me that was why they stopped playing the city public school, whatever the name was at the time. I would have said Carr.
