18. Georgia
19. Kentucky (surprised me)
21. South Car

54. Memphis
79. UAB

I'm surprised we're that far ahead of Ole Miss...

I'd like to know why.

Also, Vandy doesn't have an Athletic Department. I bet that has something to do with it.

And to be fair, I only looked at the spots in the ranking....

the difference in those spots might not be much money. Either way, we have to be close. Which as I always say, if Ole Miss would just be open to the idea of being taken over by State, think of what we could do.

edit: I take that back, it is a pretty big difference isn't it?

For some stupid reason we don't include UMAA $$$. I think with those we're pretty close to each other.

From that and this 2012 article on growth of athletic expenses (budget)...

State's athletic budget/expenses have grown from $25.8 million in 2006 and $27.5 million in 2007 to $67.9 million in 2012.

Nice numbers MedDawg...

Have posted this elsewhere, but I suspect that we aren't really all that close to our ceiling overall. The stadium should bring in an extra $10 mil or so itself IF they don't go up even more on prices. Plus, how does network revenue factor into these numbers?

We could conceivably find ourselves knocking on the door of the top 25 in the near future...

Which is why the guy everyone should really be pissed at for MSU's lack of development from say 1995-2005 is... Larry Templeton. Hiring Greg Byrne was one of the most needed events in our school's history. Seems strange, but it's true.

We restructured the Bulldog Club and tied down the Leifield Sports deal. I would be interested to see what % of our roughly $40MM revenue growth is attributed to those two single events.

You know... I'm going to be a bit of a contrarian here. I don't know if Greg Byrne was (and is) all that. I do like Scott Stricklin and like what he's done. With that said, I wish though he'd done something vis-a-vis using the MSU turf for the expansion. He's creative enough to get something done-- I just can't help but think that the athletics department dropped the ball there.

Edit to add: I don't mean to say that Byrne was bad-- just that he was liked because he wasn't LT and did some popular things (firing Croom, not hiring the Polk-anointed choice).
