First of all, kudos to our Athletic/Marketing Dept(s) for giving so much care and effort into our image and people's perception of us. They have and will continue to do a FANTASTIC job. This whole MSU/aTm uniform issue was a difficult task (colors/conference/division, etc...) and they tackled it the best they know how. I am highly dissappointed, however, in Adidas. Their lack of creativity/athletic knowledge absolutely baffles my mind. Also, the whole "unveiling" process was a complete disaster! It's been hard for me to bite my tongue during all of this and not go on some teenage girl rant about a girl at the prom who wore MY dress, but I did. With that being said, again the powers that be are giving it their best but they're missing something. They're thaaaat close! I like the new unis for the most part. Atleast they dont have the abstract/CUSA striping and piping. Geez, I could write a novel on this, but I'm hungry and gotta go home. Anyhoo, here's my Close But No Cigar version of our 2012 Football Uniforms (gray facemask/white top/silver pants combo):

The banner stripe idea was clever but I personally wasnt pleased with the execution. Clever tho.

I would endow multimedia staff positions set aside for this guy and Derek Cody. Strong work.

Chillbilly is doing original stuff. Derek stole edited footage and claimed it as his (per people in the Athletic Dept).

I'm not sure that means much more than that he used SEC/MSU owned footage in his videos. His EMCC stuff is pretty good as well. Cody can defend himself or not.

All that to say, I just want someone who can make us a better university commercial.

But they sure as heck can't mean he was nabbing someone else's work cause the videos he makes are infinitely better than anything we've put out in recent memory. He was obviously doing his own work.

From what I was told, the footage was not his, nor were most of the edits. Those spots were intended for internal use. <div>
</div><div>And yes, I agree, it was better than the stuff on they show on the jumbotron.</div><div>
</div><div>edit: I would love for him to defend himself. I want to hear his side of the story.</div>

Good work ChillBilly! I agree with your thoughts on the uniforms and the poor unveiling by Adidas.

I like the new unis for the most part. However, Adidas, as you say, is always just a bit off design-wise, compared to Nike. I'm a big soccer fan and that's where I first noticed the difference between Adidas and Nike. Nike always makes unis that are unique and look good, with a few exceptions. Adidas always looks like something that was thrown together last minute.

All I really did was tweek the banner stripe(s). It's the little things that make the BIG difference. So close. Oh well.

that Adidas just hit copy and print from the A&M uniforms. I am willing to bet that no less than 10 other schools will have very similar uniforms to ours this year. Your tweak was taken to the level that I would think a company like adidas would strive to get. <div>Can we not get new uniforms with this design? Adidas should eat the cost and make this happen.</div>

and layered feature, makes it look SO much better. You could have even gone a step simpler and just done the Silver stitching on the outside of the stripe and it would have still been a huge improvement.<div>
</div><div>As it is, it has no border, nothing. Very similar problem to the early M-State helmets under Mullen. There was nothing to set them off and they just looked like a white blob. </div><div>
</div><div>NOT TO 17ING MENTION, that Adidas is known and branded by their "3-stripe" logo. Your freaking design does a better job of branding THEIR product than they do, because you created three stripes on the shoulders and pants.</div><div>
</div><div>Just mind boggling, really. </div>

Its like the Adidas ones are the first draft and chillbillys are the final version.

It's kind of like when I got my first job as an engineer. I remember spending hours drawing something, then taking it to my supervisor who would then spend 10 minutes tweaking it and it would look 10 x better.

Why havethe Texas A&M vertical jersey stripeat all? We should be striving to seperate ourselves from them rather than trying to copy them. If for whatever reason we MUST copy T A&M, then Chilly's layered look is better.

There is no mimicking "each other". WE are mimicking THEM with the vertical stripe on the JERSEY. They have had it for about 40 years,we have had it for about4 days.

I am asking because I do not know. Chilly puts all the blame at the feet of Adidas, but does the administration / marketing folks not get to help with the design? Do they not have final say?

I agree that Adidas is much more conservative than Nike and they do not seem to push the envelope like Nike does. Therefore, it would be up to the customer to push them and not let them go cookie cutter. Now one issue could be did they show MSU and A&M the other guys unis in the development process? This way they can be sure to do tweaks to make it unique.
