And I could see 8-4 or maybe 9-3

ESP. Right after the aub game. Don't mind the pure fact that we are traveling to Troy, I just hate the very losable aspect of these games.

or at LEAST 6-1. The four after that are all extremely losable and at this point, while I certainly don't expect UM to be a good team, with the new coaching staff they certainly could be improved enough to give us fits in Oxford.

its a financial must for teams in our revenue bracket. You just cannot avoid those games anymore.

The fact that we worked it to get 7 home games a year was brilliant on Byrne's part. Stricklin getting MTSU to come to Starkville for under a million at this late date was well done too.

I would rather have LSU earlier to give it a little more balance. It would be nice to flip the LSU and South Alabama games.

Losing to Auburn is always a possibility no matter how much better we are (as we proved this year). But that is the only acceptable loss on this schedule before Bama.

Great schedule. Very happy that all games are on the correct day for college football, Saturday. Last 5 are tough but we've got 7 weeks to get better before we get there. Could be a special season.

It's nice that we could start out 7-0, but you screw up in that stretch (or have a key injury or two), and you're whole season is shot. Lots of pressure when starting out 6-1 is the minimum you need for a good season.

One good thing is that most people don't pay attention to who you beat, so if we do start out 7-0, we'll get lots of hype. On the otherhand, if we finish 1-4 in the last five games, I think people will view that as a collapse, even though a pretty good team could go 1-4 through that stretch.

we get them the week AFTER the game of the century v3.0 with Bama....

....and before they play their rival.

I'll take that placement even if it is a tough stretch for us. It's the SEC west - there are going to be tough stretches. But NO back to back road games and NO 3 home games in a row where fans can take a game off.

I love this schedule.

Easy possibility to go winless several years starting on that last 5 games. This next year, 2-3 is probably best case scenario.

Ole Miss is not going to be a pushover forever. Despite what Mullen says, more times than not, we'll split with them. A and M will be a tossup. The other three are automatic losses if recent history is any indication.

Was hoping that Bama or Arkansas would move back to earlier in the year.

We'd better be planning on going 7-0 or we are going to have a long year.

The thing that I hate about it is that this thing will be in place for a long time because it's too hard to change. We're not just thinking about next year, but we're thinking about years to come.

I don't think they did us any favors.

scheduling. This is an awesome job. No back to back road games. Easy front end should allow us to build some confidence goinginto the hard part of the schedule. I love it.There's no way we shouldn't win at least 7 of these.

just a fyi, this is a 1 year temporary schedule for '12, and they'll be spending the next year figuring out how best to move forward. most likely with 9 conference games if they want to maintain 1 permanent cross-divisional rival. <div>
</div><div>only 2 cross-divisional games with 1 permanent would mean we'd go 10 years between seeing every east school but kentucky. play 9 conference games with 1 permanent cross-divisional rival and you only go 4 years between seeing each school. also, the pac 12, big 12, and big 10 all will be at 9 games, and the acc will likely be at 9 games too, which takes away scheduling opportunities, not just for big ooc matchups, but even the smaller ooc matchups against the duke's and northwestern's and utah's. </div><div>
</div><div>so yeah, i wouldn't get too worried about this schedule sticking with us permanently moving forward just yet. the '13 schedule will be the one to watch.</div>

Makes it a lot more palatable. Having this schedule for one year to allow us to build some early excitement could be nice. And since we will be breaking in some new O-linemen, it will be nice to allow for their development early on. Just have to make sure we don't screw up one of the early games. Hopefully with Malzahn gone, Auburn will struggle. They should be just as talented or more talented than us, but we won't have a brand new DC and virtually brand new LB corp going against an above average OC this year.

that some of these Sat games will/may be moved to Thursdays as the tv schedule *gods* get involved in early summer.

State could agree to move the Auburn game to Thur 6 Sep after starting with Jackson State but don't think Auburn would agree to it on a short week after Clemson.
