That stinks! We do have to play at SC while we didn't get AL and LSU split up like many were hoping (home and away that is). The Bears should be happy with that Vandy/Missouri East side schedule. Can't ask for much easier than that.

Not really, but I see 6 conference games in a row with zero open dates.

Ole Miss got off. We didn't. SIX Straight SEC games in October to November.

They get a break in the latter part of the season from SEC play, while we have to play 6 straight SEC games with no break. Plus, they get Missouri while we get Arkansas the week before the Egg Bowl?! That ain't right.

Well, Ole Miss got a triple win...Moved the LSU game back to mid October for them as well as rotating on Mizzou at home. THEY get to go back to Alabama as well, to break up their home/away setup between Bama/LSU like we were hoping to do...

Ole Miss somehow managed to get the last half of the season before the Egg Bowl as all home games and bye weeks. How the heck?

Not a favorable schedule for us at all. I guess that's what we get for having a relatively easy one this year.

An interesting side note will be the scheduling of bulldog bash. I doubt they put it on the UK weekend, so it will most likely be either earlier that normal (LSU) or later than normal (Bama)

I don't get it either.

I know we're an up-and-coming team and all... but changing the schedule from Vandy to USCe could be the difference between a bowl game and not.

And I can gaurantee you that if our Athletic Department knew we were playing USCe instead of Vandy (as they were told a few months ago), we would not have scheduled the OK State game.

Our schedule next year will look like this:

Aug 31st vs OK State
Sept. 7th vs OOC
Sept 14th at Auburn
Sept 21st vs OOC
Sept 28th OFF
Oct. 5 LSU
Oct. 12th OOC
Oct. 19th off
Oct. 26 KENTUCKY
Nov. 2 at South Carolina
Nov. 9 at Texas A&M
Nov. 16 ALABAMA
Nov. 23 at Arkansas
Nov. 30 OLE MISS

So we get 3 OOC wins. Where do our other 3 wins come from to get bowl eligible?

I see losses in LSU, Bama, and USCe. I see a win in UK and Ole Miss. I see toss-ups in OkSt, Aub, Ark, and aTm. The last time we had 4 toss-up games, we lost all 4 (last year - @Aub, @Ark, @UGA, and vsUSCe).

Another interetesting thing about our schedule... is if we open on Aug 31st and end on November 30th, we have two off-weeks.

Of course.... we still have to travel to Bama and to LSU in the same season.

Here's a question for the board. Would you rather host Bama/LSU and travel to the other in the same year.... or would you rather have both at home every other year?

We probably brought this on ourselves by not scheduling/contracting any non-conference games late in the year.

Stricklin scheduled the Oklahoma State game under the belief we were going to be playing Vandy from the east in 2013 along with our permanent UK game. Looks like he got played. 5-7 is a real possibility next year.

Guess that's why he's still the Grasshopper.

Obviously the goal is to get to the level where we are beating them more regularly (instead of once a decade). If we do keep improving, having them in Vegas the same year give us a great chance to compete (i.e., win the west) every other year.

I am not sure I believe that our AD is this dumb, but if this is correct then it is an enormous failure in patience and competence. The SEC has every right to change schedules up to the last second. We announced the OK State game last week. Would it have really been that much of an excitement hit to announce it this week? Surely this isn't true or it a massive failure by Stricklin in the brains and patience department. If true it is Stricklins fought, not the SEC's

IMO the only way the schedule for us next year could be any worse is if KY had been taken away from us as our permanent East opponent. Think about it, @SC as our rotational East team who is probably the toughest East team currently, AL and LSU both at home which gives us 2 likely home SEC losses right off the bat, OK ST at a less than neutral site for us which could give us our first non-conference loss since Houston and GT in 2009, and 6 straight SEC games to finish the season without a break while UM gets Missouri the week prior to playing us. So where most of our SEC toss ups games are at home this year they are almost all on the road next year though hopefully Auburn will still be down.

How can you miss it?? We're poor ole Mis Stake. We ain't never been any good an we ain't never gonna be any good. Why we're lucky to even be able to take the field with the likes of USCe, Bama, LSU and Ole Miss.****

My God, people quit your 17'n whining and have a little confidence in our coach and our team. We're never gonna be treated as an equal in the SEC until we prove that we can play and win against the better schools in the conference. Some of you are acting like everyone on this schedule is gonna go undefeated and we're gonna lose every game. I don't expect us to have as good a record as we'll have this year, but we're not gonna be bottom of the barrel next year. Look who we've got coming back and I'm willing to guarantee that Dan Mullen will have us looking better and playing better than we ever have.

BMT, this got posted under you but I don't want you thinking its directed at you. I agree with what you said and wish some of our fans would grow a pair. I'm so sick of this "We're poor ole Mississippi State" ****** attitude.

They're always Mississippi schools, and do you want to throw a Northwestern or North Carolina on top of our already tough schedule? Troy isn't going to be a cakewalk, and Bowling Green has been known to put up a fight. We need a team to beat up on every once in awhile. Plus, it keeps some of the money we spend on OOC oponnents in state.

It's about as bad as it could be without intentionally trying to screw us.

Taking as a given that we were keeping UK, I guess it could have been worse to get UF instead of USCe next year? So it could have been a little worse there. The six straight conference games sucks. Still probably not a reason to panic, but we will be breaking in new db's against Ok St. next year. The db's have at least had some playing time, but there's still going to be a significant drop off next year. That will also let UM match up their strength on offense (moncrief) against our weakness on defense, so that's going to be a more worrisome matchup than it otherwise would be. But if Auburn and Ark are still down next year, we should have UK, and 3 OOC as wins, should-win but very losable games against Aub, Ark, UM, and then toss-up at best games against A&M (or does A&M lose a lot of their O-line?) and Ok St. Still should be bowling with improvement on offense, but it will probably be a step backward as far as record in a year where the schedule we were expecting would have set us up to have a very good year even if we did not improve.

Where was it said that we were going to have Vandy next year? Was that set in stone?

The schedule is what it is. We play in the SEC, get over it. If we can't get 6 wins then so be it.
