And Naz only has one in Julian Love. It's as if no one else on Naz is ever recognized.
Also known and played with love I still have video of love making our team look like a bunch of idiots trying to catch him zig zagging all o er the damn place and scoring like 40 on us lmao! Always knew he was going to be special couldn't be any prouder for him and his family.

PJJP,

It's time to stop. You may not have agreed with Sportsmoms posts but he's a good guy.

More importantly Ivory is a great kid that I'd be proud to call a son or teammate. He's about as far from the "me" player you are trying to make him here. Ivory would never put himself above his team. Please don't try to portray him in any such light! Flushing your post would be most appropriate.

For the record, I think Ivory is an absolute beast of a talent aND think he should be considered for any all state team. He should be an honorable mention, at a minimum.

I never said he was a "me" kid, or suggested he was such. Now his "mom" might be a bit out there.

Do people even read previous posts? 100% certain coaches MUST nominate their kids. Kids will not be considered under any circumstance without their coach's nomination. There is no nomination limit per school. Coach's nominations require their Principal's signature.

I don't understand how Curry was not even in the honorable mention, but he's angry and frustrated what else does this kid need to do.

There are so many all-star teams that some coaches nominate kids who are not going to be chosen for other all-star teams.

completely agreed, explosive, quick twitch muscle fibers is the first thing that comes to mind. I didn't know who he really was when the season started but I first was wowed vs St. Pats, then saw 2 more 6 TD games, obvious next level talent and it's a shame he didn't get recognized and now he is getting unwanted recognitions on this board.

1 question, how are these teams even determined? Because some of these selections are just awful, knowing who didn't get picked.

Was able to find a (very, very "old school") website for the IHSFCA. Here's what it says when you click on the nomination form:

"The Illinois High School Football Coaches'Association shall select its annual All State Team this fall. Athletes selected will be presented their plaque prior to the state final game. Selection committees representing all classes will select "Eighteen" players from each class."

But looking at last year's teams, just like this year, there are what I would think are obvious omissions. Are all coaches members of this organization? At a minimum, it would appear that for whatever reason, not all coaches participate (nominate players)?

Guys we go through this EVERY YEAR! The coaches nominate their kids. It's not the media or popular vote or the vote early vote often saga that is Chicago politics. The coaches nominate the kids - hence the coaches all state team.

Carry on

The interesting part of the rules that I have heard here is that the principal needs to sign off on the nominations. That would indicate that while football prowess earns you the nomination, there could be myriad reasons why it wouldn't make it to the actual coaches vote.

Apparently the world that this group of all-stars live in is different from where games occur. I'm sure these young men are fine athletes and deserve accolades, but the dearth of offensive linemen is striking. None in 8A and only one or two in most classes. Who blocks for these All-State skill players to help them with there massive statistics? As a line coach, this "team" is laughable.

Is there another back with his numbers in 5a or even close would like to know
Johnson from JCA had over 1900 yds rushing and another 500 receiving. Montalvo from LWW has over 2000 yds rushing. Both 5a kids.

For the record, Sportsmom may have gotten into some areas that are better left unsaid on a message board, but I did agree with him on one of his main points. He was critical of the Naz coach, who identified himself by name, for making disparaging remarks against an opposing coaching staff and their offensive philosophy. He asserted that this coach's comments were highly inappropriate. I agree with him 100% on that. In the 15 plus years I've been on this MB, I've never seen anything like that. So kudos to Sportsmom for taking a stand in that area.

Amani Jones from Phillips was the best LB that Fenwick played against his season, with 3 of their opponents still playing (Phillips, Montini, and Loyola).

Its a joke. How is the Allen kid not on it? Because he got ejected from a week 9 game?

This is nothing new. There was only 1 OL in 8A last year, and I believe it was 0 the year before as well.

If I was coach with some pull in the situation, I would lobby for the following...
1 QB
2 RB's
1 TE/Big WR (like a CJ Fiedrowicz, Nic Wieshar)
2 WR
5 OL

3 DL
4 LB's
4 DB's

1 K
1 P

Most teams run some semblance of a 3-4 or 3-3 on Defense now to handle the spread.
Most teams are also running some version of the spread on offense.

How you can't have a team vote, doesn't make much sense. I get the argument of voting for the 18 best kids, but you can't just neglect OL and DL.
