Vandy will probably be preseason number one next year. What about State. Any guesses on where we will be preseason. Top 10 ? TOP 20?

Preseason rankings are a crapshoot. Vandy was ranked 11th and we were ranked 6th in Perfect Game's preseason rankings, and they were ranked 10th and we were ranked 8th in Baseball America's. And let's not forget our #2 preseason ranking.

Preseason rankings may not mean much, but it gives you an idea what the national media thinks of your talent. Good or bad.
We're a nationally prominent baseball program. Until we completely **** the bed (i.e. no postseason play), media outlets are always going to have a pretty positive outlook regarding our talent. I wouldn't be surprised if someone puts us top 10 this preseason because "our #2 recruiting class will have been in the program for a full year and gained experience" or something along those lines.

and its the same reason we ***** about Georgia and Florida being ranked so highly in pre-season football polls in years that they are not deserving. We have a name in baseball, and the association with success comes into play. On a complete side note, how did Dansby Swanson not end up at UM with that name?

surprised if we were in the top 40. Cohens is not doing a good job recruiting. The few guys he does get that are half decent, he runs off with his cussing.

Of the 'Big Three' ...
Without a doubt ... baseball is the toughest to predict. So much depends on team chemistry and individual pitching. None of which matters one iota without luck, getting hot and end of season momentum.
Go back and look at Bianco's and Corbin's teams over the past decade. They have had some really great teams and have watched 'other' teams go off to the CWS while they sit at home.
Of the 8 teams that were at the CWS last year, only Louisville made it back; plus , they haven't won a single game in either appearance.
Last year's champion, UCLA, was ranked #15 entering this season, didn't come close to making a regional and finished 25-30-1.
ONLY 1 of the top 8 ranked teams to start the season, made it to Omaha (Louisville). And, of the eight teams that made it, two (Tx Tech & UC Irvine) were not even in the Top 40 to start the season.
MSU started '14 as the #2 and OM was #30.
