2016 Richmond Region Football Schedule

On Friday, August 26th the Richmond Region kicks off another year of football. This will be the fourth season of the new alignment and the final season before we go back to regions. This also marks my fourth year covering the Richmond Region believe it or not.

One of the many things I looked forward to this time of the year was the release of the VHSL schedule. That has not yet occurred but fans of the game are itching to get a look at what their teams slate looks like. Through various resources I have pieced together the schedule for Richmond Region Football in 2016 and I present it to you now, week by week.

We've got a little more than a month before that first game on August 26th. Where will you be that night?

I think HSHS is easily the premier game for week one. Matoaca at Manchested and Dinwiddie making the long trip up to Maury Field are also two to watch.

Can't ignore George Wythe at Armstrong for another reason. It could be the only win for one or the other.

You know, if I didn't know better, I would swear that Danny may be just a wee bit excited about seeing the season get started?

Don't leave out Thomas Dale-Cosby in week one. It's difficult to decide which game to cover that first Friday night. I did Highland Springs-Hermitage last year and Herm lost quite a bit to graduation so not sure if this is the must see as it has been in years past.

Me excited? Whatever gave you that idea? LOL!

Yeah, I started to mention the TD/Cosby matchup. I just didn't know what Cosby had this year. We know that TD is always good enough to beat anybody.

The next week, nothing jumps out at me for the Thursday night games, but there are several killer games on Friday night, Sept. 2. I'm guessing I will be seeing you in Hanover that night?

Cosby is loaded this year, a ton returns to a senior laden team. I will be publishing their preview this week.

As for that next week... You also have LC Bird & Thomas Dale so I will probably be at one or the other. Matoaca-Cosby is an intriguing game as well.
