Gonna tell you why it won't happen first of all to a 18 years old poor kid the current dleague salary is good money to play basketball. Plus lottery style players the first really good pay day isn't ur contract it's it first endorsement deal meaning you need to be seen u need to have a name nationally. You cant get that in the dleague u can get a name in college. Now finally big money has always been there straight out of hs if you go to Europe. Plus how do you even do it you can't just have a top hs player say I'm going to the Lakers farm team. And then the Lakers basically have the rights to him. Would have to have alot more rules put into place. So if this goes to 2 years then I see no problem.

The teams will draft them out of high school like the MLB does. It's all going to depend on the money and how soon they let them negotiate their second contract.

Good for Harry Giles. Hope the kid heals up and kills it. No doubt that he would have gone higher if he had set out the year.

He's not entertaining in any way , shape or form.

If he wasn't he wouldn't get a longer interview than his kid who just went second over all to the Lakers...

Entertaining doesn't necessarily mean right, dignified, deserving of time or thought, it means people will watch and listen...people watch and listen to lavar...

No body is going to give time of day to anyone who isn't going to sell or attract in some way shape or form...

People like to blame the media for giving him a platform and seeking him out. Multi billion dollar organizations like Disney, Fox, and other media folks have departments and specialists who calculate whether or not someone or something is worth giving air time to. They keep giving time to lavar.

The consumer decides. Right now folks are consuming Lavar ball.

We have Cal using UK and by extension essentially telling NCAA to shove it. Players using UK to reach their dreams. It's fun every year but leaves a bad taste in the mouth. I don't blame Cal or the players. It's the NCAA, the universities, the NBA, and commercialization of so-called amateur sports that is to blame. Cal and the players are just taking what is being offered to them.

Having said that, next year's 'turnover' team, to me, is as promising as any Cal has had. Stud power forwards finally, solid players at each position and balance we haven't had since '12.

Kanye west had a platform to spew idiocy for years ... the kardashians ... and every other annoying "media figure " just because the media gives him, a bunch of air time, and people watch (while trying not to vomit / wish harm on him bc he's so damn annoying ) doesn't mean said person is "entertaining "

One man's entertaining is another man's golf or nascar racing

Tks for the insight. Will there be a draft for the G league if the salaries go up? If not, how would kids out of HS get on teams?

I'm not sure you could get a greater concentration of Kentucky players at bad NBA franchises if that's what you were going for. It's borderline comical. Even when we get a guy at a seemingly good place, they go and do something insane like make Magic Johnson general manager.

Oh well, it's still fun.

At a draft party little drunk. Let me summarize. If the NBA goes to 2 years only and the d league increases salary. It will not be a free for all to the d league for hs kids. Lottery talent get big endorsement deal before the draft even. Just like going to Europe going to the dleague puts them out of the national spot light and effects the first real money they get. Plus with the NBA buying these teams and using them as farm teams you can't have a kid just go to a teams farm team and then they have the rights to him so the current rules will have to be changed

Speaking of the Kardashians, folks have been complaining about them for years yet here they are still around, multi millionaires, a ratings machine for a tv network, still on a number of different shows, and popping up on a board devoted to Kentucky sports.

He might be an ***, rude, annoying, classless, goofy, loud, nonsensical, etc...but he's getting air time and reactions.

Nobody turned off the draft because of Lavar. Nobody turned off First Take, Colin Cowherd, or other interviews/appearances.

Ivan Rabb 35th in the second round, just wow what a mistake he made by coming back!! He has to have a lingering injury teams are worried about right? How could he have possibly slipped that much..wasn't he projected top 5 to late lottery at worst last year? This is worse than Giles situation.

So far I see the kings have ruined fox already. Then you put him with Giles who let's be honest is a high risk pick. I see the dleague in his future real fast. Ball I hope he crashes and burns.

Has thornwell been drafted?

Nice to see to see the hornets took monk I like that.

What teams took hump and briscoe in the first round? Asking for a friend.

I hope Jarrett Allen enjoyed Austin. Do you think he'd have been outside of the lottery had he played for us? Bamba is also making a huge mistake. Bam going in the lottery and ahead of Allen illustrates the point further.

Cal said he was going to wait until all his guys were taken then he was going to leave early. I guess he had a long wait.

Tks for the insight. Will there be a draft for the G league if the salaries go up? If not, how would kids out of HS get on teams?

Current rules for G League

  • The NBA G League holds a draft every year consisting of nearly 200 players who have signed contracts with the league. In 2016, the draft consisted of six rounds.
  • Players who return to the NBA G League are, by rule, re-acquired by the teams that they played for within the last two seasons (Returning Players).
  • Once the NBA D-League season begins, players who sign NBA G League contracts are placed into a rotating waiver pool so that teams can claim them.
  • If a player from high school, college or overseas enters the NBA G League without ever having declared for the NBA Draft, he will also join the waiver pool. That player remains NBA Draft-eligible but is not eligible to be called up to the NBA.

So until the salaries go up, a high school player will make $26,000 plus endorsement opportunities.
