Which was more disappointing? I have to say this year’s basketball team. Maybe because it’s closer to the boat, but I knew we had a defense in 2018 but we still wouldn’t be able to win the big one. Thought basketball this year would struggle early and possibly peak at tournament time. Was the exact opposite.

2018 football in a land slide.
Correct, and not even close. That was a team, with the correct coach, that would’ve competed for championships. The defense alone was championship caliber. All that was needed was a coach that didn’t stupidly force the best running qb in SEC history to pass. Instead we get the smartest guy in the room without a lick of sense.

Ha, not even close. 2018 football. I’m shocked you even compared. Our basketball is always overrated.

2018. Easily. Mullen would have had that team where 2014 was. Didn’t have Dak, but defense was better.

LOL, the legend of the 2018 football team again. Another ”fact” that has become gospel among certain segments of the fan base. That team lost ONE game, Florida, due to the coaching change.

Mullen as coach beats Kentucky and Florida. And considering what he did to LSU with those same players the year before…

Even if your opinion is he only wins the Florida game… Certainly beats Iowa in the Outback too. Where we probably would have been at 9-3 anyway.

10-3 > 8-5

The only difference was the Florida game.

This is not even a close debate. We finished exactly where we were predicted to finish in the preseason in basketball this year and were not particularly talented compared to the rest of the league.

We had three first round draft picks on 18 football, were elite on one side of the ball, ranked in the Top 20 in the preseason, and lost 5 games.

2018 football had the best roster in school history, would’ve easily won 10 games with Dan, and very likely could’ve been an SEC Champ/Playoff team. It’s definitely the 2018 football team.

Always easy to tell when your douchebaggy asss gets too far in the booze.
Nope, that's just the truth. Fitz is one of my all time favorite Dawgs, but he was not a championship caliber QB. He could run the heck out of the ball but his passing left us too dependent on the running game. That would have Remained the same even if we had been running the Mullen offense. The legend of the 2018 team that never was is the biggest, but by no means only, made up Six Pack Fact that became gospel.
