I just remember Mark Calcavecchia crying after his RC match. Also fanning one straight into the ocean on #17. The two memories might be related.

I have played all of them except for the River course, but the best course in the area is Brier's Creek just outside of Kiawah. One of the best courses I ever played, owned by the guy that used to own the Houston Texans I think

I've got Bryson. Time for the big fella to flex.

For a wild dark horse I'll take Harry Higgs because he DGAF.

Any of those guys between 16-28 to 1 seem like good value to me.

Who in their right mind would bet on past PGA champions like Daly, Dufner, Davis Love, YE Yang, et al?? Some random club pro has as much chance of winning.

It’s a weird course in the sense that is fairly easy when calm but once the wind gets going it becomes the hardest course you will ever play. The guy who can control the ball this weekend when the winds pick up will win.

I think I have played it three times, all in warm weather without a lot of wind, and agree with you. I have definitely played harder courses (Valhalla, for one).

But I have never played OC in heavy wind, but can see it would be an entirely different experience then.

I have played it 3 times. Shot a 78 on a calm day and in the 90's in windy conditions. Friend of mine who used to play on tour recently played a 2 day outing there and shot a 67 and an 82 the next day when it got windy. It's that crazy of a course. Reason I am not going to put much stock into whoever is leading going into the weekend if the winds pick up like they predict. Not only will it require great ball striking but it is going to affect putts as well. Whoever adjusts the best will win it. I like Justin Thomas if he brings his A game.

Use to go visit my daughter when she was a student at South Carolina and would generally spend time at Kiawah and came to the conclusion that the Ocean Course is to hard for me. Remember telling my wife I did not enjoy myself.

What is this 9 hours of TV coverage in a single day? Didn't know golf tournaments were allowed to do that.

No odds on Harry Higgs?

Stewart Cink at 150-1 is attractive to me on that list.

I don't recall all of the exact numbers, but in 1983, there was what at the time was about a 10-year home for sale on the beach for about $500k to $600k ... I don't recall the exact amount ... it sold in around 2010 for about $4M and the owner tore the house down and rebuilt a new house on the same lot ... A home on that same street on the oceanfront would cost between $10 and 20M today.. Wish I would have had funds back in 1983.

Dan Moreno sat at the table next to me while my wife and I were having dinner at Kiawah.
I would have taken every opportunity to work in the words "super" and "bowl" at the table.

If you could pass me that bowl it would be super. I've always wanted that but never been able to get it. I had one opportunity but missed it years ago.

The Ocean Course truth: if the wind isn’t up it can be had.

BUT: if the wind is up it’s a top 3 hardest course in America.

(I don’t think we will get the brutal wind and I think the guys will take it into low double digits)

Tough one to pick.
Winner - Cam Smith
Dark Horses - Charlie Hoffman & Keegan Bradley
Surprising missed cut - Spieth

Course is crazy long so it should be a big hitter that wins it but that logic doesn't pan out most of the time. Anyway, that's why I picked Bryson.

Going to play some rounds on Tiger 2014 to familiarize myself with the course better.

I'm going out on a limb and picking Finau.
