Agree. The level of players on tour are not like us regular amateurs who get a quick number and go after it. Pros and their caddies take alot of variables into account that a range finder does not calculate. Do not know how the pace of play has been this week but I bet it's about the same or slightly less. JMO, range finders are not much of a game changer at the pro level.
I just don't see it as a huge advantage over their yardage books other than it might save a little bit of time and help pace of play a tad. I saw a clip yesterday where a lot of guys said they were okay with it and thought it might help. The only one against it was Justin Thomas and then I saw him using it. 😂

Daly 13 over for the day. Know he qualified as past Champ but certainly there had to have been someone more deserving of his spot.

Past champs get in, but to your point, he was not even close to making the cut two years ago at the Barbasol. And they let him ride in a cart there also.

My daughter and I plan to go up and watch the Barbasol this year. It will be my first PGA event and I am excited to attend.

If it speeds up the game then I would be in favor just seems a little strange to see them being used. Will admit I hate the things.

Need to modify the rule and say you must have made the cut in a PGA event in the last year for a former champ to play otherwise Daly will be doing it just to get free rounds at the local bar until he drops dead of being fat and doing drugs.

Warning. This cawoodsct guy will disagree with you for the rest of your life in every thread. I did in the Bengals thread on football board and he's been on a mission ever since.

We generally give him the benefit of the doubt because he's a good golfer, however, his writings/posts about sports are usually very suspect.

You will have a ball, because there are many holes w/ very fan friendly spots (up close)

Agree 100% and although it is obviously not the A team of the PGA, all those guys are damn good. FIrst year, Billy Horschel finished 2nd, went on to win the WGC match play this season; Nick Taylor finished 15th the 2nd year, then won the Pebble Beach Pro Am; then Jim Herman who won in 2019, won in Greensboro at a full field even the next year.

You will also get a dozen or so top tier players who simply don't want to cross the pond, especially this year.

What is more shocking that Phil is leading on day 2, Ricky Fowler is in the top 16 or that Dustin Johnson looks to be going to miss his 2nd cut in a row as the #1 player in the world?

Lets see what he does tomorrow before getting too excited but it was a nice round today.
You where saying ? He may be inconsistent, make so bone headed choices, and be 50 years old, but the dude still on any given weekend, can play at an Elite level and even contend / win no matter the field. If not for a player named Tiger, Phil would be talked about as one of, if not THE greatest golfer ever. I never jumped on the Tiger fan wagon, Phil has always been my dude, he will try and pull off the perfect / unthinkable shot, showing people he CAN do something they say he can't do is just as important to him as winning. He lives for the challenge of the impossible and challenges every golf course he plays. He may not always make the RIGHT play, and it has cost him several tournaments, but one thing Phil does on the course, he plays it HIS way. If you can't respect that, I guess you are the type that will ALWAYS layup and play it safe.

Calm down not dishing on Phil at all. Not sure how you can take that from what I said. What happened to Phil after he shot an opening round -7 in his last tournament? Never heard from him again. Just trying to be cautious of expectations after the day 1. Now that he has backed it up and I hope it continues.

And yes I expect Phil to have a over par round out of the next two that will probably take him out of contention, but damn it is great seeing the old man up front. The odds are not in his favor and usually when Phil has a "off' round, it is a real bad one.

I did not know that PGA players could use a range finder. I just saw Dechambeu using one.

Wide fairways, short game wizard, experience, will keep him there.

Oh, i wasn't saying you where. I even posted the same thing, he would have a bad round over the next two. I was just pointing out he actually put together back to back solid rounds and was actually leading and made the cut, which he didn't do at the last tournament.

Agree, but he even said it himself, he is struggling with focus for the whole round / tournament. All it takes is one bad round and it could spell disaster for him. I am rooting for him, believe me. I would actually love to see him some how pull off the unthinkable and get that elusive US Open before he is no longer able to win it. Losing at Riviera several years ago really stung, he has not let himself live it down. the US Open he would trade ALL of the Masters he won for one US Open. It would be really magical and put the stamp on his career to see him get one. And he has nothing left to prove to ANYONE, just more so for him, he deserves it, it has been a real pleasure to watch him play golf all these years, he truly is "One of a kind."
