I would not have gotten this one if the question was who was the last Phillie in the 9 hole to hit a HR in a home playoff game:

I remember that night very well. Some of the hardest hit balls I ever saw hit and that includes Mighty Joe’s shot. Howard’s had that sound you often don’t hear.

As soon as I saw it hit the wall I yelled inside the park at my wife. Basic outfield play learned in little league. Corner outfielders back up center fielder. Acuna never moved.

This is not a perfect team with a manager who just fills out the card and sits back to enjoy the game. I can’t remember a stretch this long where a manager has pushed the right button EVERY SINGLE time. He has managed the staff, pen, and youngsters to get contributions out of everyone.

They’ve come this far, there might as well be a big dogpile on the mound in 2 weeks plus.

I’m not that bent about their 3-8 streak at the most crucial time of the season. They’ve shown no ability to do anymore than be a couple of tune-up wins for St. Louis or Atlanta.

Howard's HRs -- sometimes you knew just by the sound that it was out of here. At times, even on the TV broadcast or the radio broadcast, the sound would be so different than what you'd heard throughout the game on contacts that you knew as well, even if you didn't have the visuals of the big picture to confirm, as you would when at the stadium.

Sure. Like it all you want. This streak has been a big (pleasant) surprise. Very few saw it coming based on the regular season run-in.

It's funny how things play out at times. I thought the Phils had a good chance to defeat the Cardinals. I was not nearly as confident against the Braves. In looking at your lineup, I thought they could give our pitchers, especially our bullpen, a lot of problems. And while I thought that we had an advantage when Wheeler and Nola started, that was only 2 games, and the Braves' starting pitching concerned me.

The Phils got healthy and got hot, and as one of the tweets from today indicated, almost every decision the manager made for the Phils in the playoffs turned out to be a smart move. Either the Phils have been quite lucky, or they are hitting their stride and are quite good.

The Braves are an organization that fans of pretty much any other organization envies. Their drafting and player development is off the charts, which keeps them in the upper echelon more than almost any other team.

I was shocked when you mentioned this. The fact that the LCS is a post 1968 construct and the past 50 years have seen the best of Phillies baseball is the result. Still, I am happy to have been alive for five pennants when earlier fans were assaulted with pathetic results for decades.

It is shocking how little the Braves have gotten out of their division title runs.

Indeed! This is the Phillies' 10th appearance all-time. You could probably guess five of the six teams who have more, but the other team came as a surprise to me: a former Philly team, of course, the A's.
