2022 Revised Schedule

The SEC is famous for its cupcake non-conference and for only playing 8 conference games.

The Big Ten went 6-3 in the bowls. The SEC went 5-8.
I would rather play an extra B1G game than play against any other P5 conference opponent, and I'm sure the other schools agree based on their open cowardice as represented in these pathetic schedules

a quick peek at the SEC's non-con schedule in 2022:

Alabama at Texas
Cincinnati at Arkansas
Utah at Florida
Georgia vs. Oregon (in Atlanta, Ga.)
LSU vs. Florida State (in New Orleans, La.)
South Carolina at Clemson - happens every year, but much better than iowa vs iowa st (lol!)
Tennessee at Pitt
Miami FL at Texas A&M

this list excludes the lone SEC/B1G matchup - Penn St (blue blood that, like us, schedules a big non-con game every year) @ Auburn

also, since you're here, please tell your bald weirdo coach the 1940s weren't "50 years ago", and minnesota was never Alabama. thx.

“Fifty years ago, we were the Alabama of football. We were that." - PJ Fleck, May 11, 2018

also also - 4 of the B1G's 6 bowl wins were against teams that finished 6-7, a team without their QB/OC and arizona state. the 5th was against a 7-6 team. if that's not a cupcake schedule, I don't know what is! classic B1G fan leaving out these crucial details.

If you want to list the SEC 1-14 and the Big Ten 1-14 and I bet you would take the SEC team 12 or more times.
If we want to do tiers, let's do it! happy to provide the legwork:

SEC

Tier 1
Alabama
Georgia

Tier 2
Ole Miss
Arkansas
Kentucky
Texas A&M

Tier 3
Miss St
Tennessee
South Carolina
Auburn
Florida
LSU
Missouri

Tier 4
Vandy
B1G

Tier 1
Ohiost
Mich

Tier 2
Sparty
Penn St
Iowa
Minnesota
Wisconsin

Tier 3
Purdue
Maryland
Rutgers
Illinois
Nebraska
Northwestern

Tier 4
Indiana

bolded the tiers in which the SEC slaughters the B1G. took a little longer than I'd have liked since I couldn't stop laughing.

an interesting note for anyone who actually thinks playing 9 B1G games makes the schedules unfair -- in 2021 the B1G had a whopping 7 teams win 6 or more conference games. the SEC had just 3, since, you know, every game is against a way better opponent than if they played in our league.

The SEC is famous for its cupcake non-conference and for only playing 8 conference games.

The Big Ten went 6-3 in the bowls. The SEC went 5-8.

The SEC has won 5 of the 8 CFP championships
The SEC has had a team in 7 of the 8 championship games
The SEC is the only conf to have 2 teams in the CFPs in the same year - this has happened 2 of 8 times
The SEC is the only conf to have both teams in the championship game - this has happened twice

There is no NCAA rule that states one has to play 9 conf games ... only scheduling 8 seems to be working out pretty well for the SEC

no gives a **** if your conferences 6th best team is better than another conferences 6th place team

Our conferences best team didn't even belong on the field with the SEC's best

the top end elite also creates bowl misalignments -- whereby you have the 3rd best SEC team playing the top Big 12 team - because their 1 and 2 teams are in the playoffs

correction - our conference's best team got mercy ruled by the SEC runner-up

our conference's runner-up wasn't even good enough to be selected by its own league to play in the rose bowl (LMAO!), so instead it got beat by the SEC's 4th best on New Year's Day

No, King Kong....Texas, Florida State, Miami (FL), and Pittsburgh are not extra superior opponents. The SEC doesn't play tougher opponents than anyone else.

Indiana @ Cincinnati
Nebraska vs Oklahoma
Ohio State vs Notre Dame
Penn State @ Auburn

The Big Ten plays about the same strength of teams as the SEC and everyone else. Geez, pull your face out of the SEC's jock-strap.

here is the original schedule -- 2 games for NU between bye weeks -- we now have 3

original 2022 schedule

as I originally stated, Nebraska is the only conference team that gets the benefit of 2 conference games that are preceded by a bye week ... damn this conference to hell for doing this to us!
Original Nebraska 2022 Big 10 schedule:

September 24 at Rutgers
October 1 home Indiana
October 8 at Northwestern
October 15 at Michigan
October 22 home Minnesota
October 29 bye
November 5 at Wisconsin
November 12 home Purdue
November 19 home Illinois
November 25 at Ioway

When the Nebraska and Northwestern agreed to play in Dublin that assured a bye before the Michigan game..

Everyone said national powerhouses Penn State and Nebraska would come in and dominate in the Big Ten. And look what happened.
they turned into typical (read: non-Ohio St) B1G programs:

zero meaningful accomplishments on the field, tons of "Ws" off it (money! strength of schedule! AP Poll!)

the B1G doesn't just breed losers. it seems to relish them.

once again you are complaining about where the byes are while being blind to the fact that we are the only team that gets to play more than 1 conf game coming off a bye week

Reading thru posts like this make me concerned I am sharing the same roads with certain people when I drive.

SEC >>> Everyone else. By a mile. To try and argue otherwise seems silly.

should be 7-1 and bowl bound heading into November.
No. Purdue should be favored at home against us until we prove otherwise. Zero U. should be favored against us no matter where we play. Northwestern kicks *** in even-numbered years. Tom Allen has already pinned your post to every locker in Bloomington, as has Noah Vedral. And Illinois has dominated us the last two years.

I'm hoping for it, but there's nothing about Nebraska football right now that says we "should be" anything other than what we are — a program that finds ways to **** up.

The expectations should still be 7-1 going into November.

Well Nebraska doesn’t have anyone to play on September 24 because 5 other Big 10 teams have scheduled non conference games and Nebraska gets a bye for that fact…

The Big 10 had no choice in the matter..

Pgainey, never accorded to me Big 10 gave the Sept 24 game at Rutgers to Ioway, when they were suppose to play Minnesota in Minneapolis….

Football wise. It was a huge mistake to move to this conference.

The disrespect is ridiculous.

Man, the BIG 10 really plays no one of of conference next year outside of OSU, PSU and NU. Some pretty sad schedules.
Most Big 10 schools just want W’s in non-con and not competition. I don’t blame them as the league schedule is tough with 9 games. That approach does not scream competitor but dudes be protecting their jobs.

I think there is far more risk than reward for a power 5 team in scheduling a marquee non conference game. A loss hurts you far more than a win helps

I don't disagree, but I actually miss the days of good non-cons.

Disagree.

Staying undefeated gets you ranked. One loss to a good team. Hurts your chances down the road to get to a good bowl game.

We loss to 5 ranked teams and everyone thinks we suck.

It 8s good for ticket sales though

Sorry - I should have been clearer. We are in agreement

Schedule a pansy win rather than a 50/50 game against a quality opponent

Well, aren’t NFTs virtual representations? This would be a physical representation of mens athletics at Neb
The basic definition of fungible is able to replace or be replaced by another identical item, doesn't seemingly have to be virtual but that is obviously an emerging market, yeah, and one I don't care enough about to look into further.

scheduling in the big has been unbalanced trash since the start, about as dependable as the center snapping a few years ago.
but I guess the pay is good.
