An interesting thing to me is that there are so many people with a positive view of the portal. Arguments about young men who were stuck getting new opportunities abound. But here's the deal, every spot that a transfer takes is taking away an opportunity of someone already committed to that program.
Further, hundreds of kids enter the portal and never return. They simply lose their scholarships and many of those probably never get their degrees. Continuing on the topic of degrees, how many of these serial portal mercenaries end up with a degree? They aren't all going pro and in fact that percentage is very low. So how is the system good for the players if likely thousands that would have earned degrees and not made the pros, now leave college football without a degree?
