149 pounds: Shayne Van Ness vs. Paniro Johnson, Iowa State

First period
SVN tries to drop in but nothing cooking and they break apart and remain neutral. They've been in center throughout looking for angles. Nothing yet so far for either. SVN drops his level dives in on on a single has Johnson in a world of trouble cranks and cranks still waiting as they go chest to chest and Jonson somehow rolls through but it's a six point throw for Van Ness after one.

Second period
Johnson starts downa after some blood time and he reverses in a hurry to 6-2 but SVN out quickly to 7-2. Jonson back in quick on a takedown for 7-4 and SVN out to 8-4. Off a restart (before which Johnson looked GASSED) Van Ness snaps down circles around steps behind and gets a takedown for a 10-4 lead. SVN over a minute in riding time now late in the second. Johnson called for stalling underneath (the first against him this year) and it's 10-4 SVN after two with 1:44 in riding time.

Third period
SVN down first. He's out immediately to 11-4. SVN back in quickly on a single but Johnson fends it off. Johnson now in on a counter single and they scramble and Johnson converts to a double to 11-6. Blood time for SVN with 1:27 left. On restart, SVN is down with 1:27 left. Optional start for Johnson and he goes to a headlock but SVN is out to 12-6. Great fight in the middle ofthe match keeps them neutral with a minute to wrestle. SVN in on a single they scramble in the center SVN is OK for now as they circle and SVN splits back but Johnson finishes the takedown to 13-8 and with riding time Shayne Van Ness wins 14-8.

SVN d. Johnson 14-8

No. 20 Graham Rooks of Indiana upsets No. 4 Caleb Henson of Virginia Tech 5-4 at 149. The Hoosier will face Penn State's Shayne Van Ness in the quarters. SVN beat the Hoosier by major decision earlier this year.

157 R2: #2 seed Levi Haines vs. #15 seed Jacob Wright (Wyoming) (I'll use JW)

Per 1
Haines with a single, they scramble, he elevates the leg, and gets the TD, 2-0. JW out quickly, 2-1. JW shoots, Haines sprawls, nothing. 1 min left. Haines shoots, nothing. End.

Per 2
JW defers, and Haines takes bottom. He's t his feet, and eventually gets away, 3-1. Haines in on a single, has the leg shelled, and gets the TD, 5-1. (JW tried to his a roll but Haines didn't allow it.) Haines has the arm trapped, and is really working it. JW is flat and doing nothing. JW works to his knees. Haines tries to tilt him with a bar but the buzzer sounds. RT @ 1:18 for Haines

Per 3
JW takes bottom. I think there was a caution (not sure). JW sits out, but Haines stays with him. JW to his feet, and eventually he's out, 5-2. RT @ 1:40 for Haines. Haines shoots, nothing -- JW blocked him. JW with a lazy shot, Haines with a counter and gets a single but JW with a whizzer and nothing. 35 sec left. Haines shoots and gets a single, JW sprawls, Haines sucking it in, ,and gets the TD at the end, 7-2. With 1:40 in RT it's an 8-2 DEC for Levi Haines!!!
