Yesterday reminded me that Harper plays with a smoldering intensity that reminds me a bit of Kirk Gibson. There’s a fire burning there at all times. Someday I’ll post a good Kirk Gibson story that we still love telling and laughing about.

Anyone else ready to move on from Falter? Of course, he got some brutal play behind him in the field, too.

Agree or disagree? I tend to agree. Three straight losses, and while Schwarber's late homer made it a one run game, 12 more left on base and that issue and horrendous defense continue to be major problems. Least the pitching was fine last night.

I know many fellow Phillies fans are focusing on the offense, but it makes it difficult when the pitching staff, with or without the help of the defense, regularly gives up "crooked numbers" in individual innings no matter how well they pitch in the rest of the game. This particular season thus far seems to be disproportionately peppered with 4-run innings, 6-run super-innings, etc. for various opponents. 🤷‍♂️

Well this a crock of ****.
Someone needs to do a statistical analysis of how many 4+ run "disaster" innings the Phillies have given up in proportion to previous seasons and in proportion to other teams. If only LionJim was a Phillies fan instead of a Nationals fan... 🤷‍♂️

For as many discussions as there have been about the Phillies not hitting well with runners in scoring position, there are many games that the team isn't even realistically in it because of giving up runs "in bulk" all at once in a single inning.

Phillies pitching can put up zeroes the rest of the game and yet the team consistently loses because of the disaster inning...and unfortunately the 4+ run disaster inning has now become the expectation as opposed to the exception.

Edit: unfortunately it is NOT surprising that it has now happened twice in this current game😳, and not against an offensive juggernaut 😂🤨

Sheesh, these guys are a mess. Can't hit with RISP (or in general in too many instances), pitching can't get a shutdown inning. Brutal.

What's even more disgusting is that Oakland, which has a legitimate shot of not winning 30 games this year, is ahead of them.
Oh, man, I’m laughing here. Damn. That’s “take your-cousin-to-prom” sad.

But it’s a long season. Read Halberstam’s “Summer of ‘49,” you’ll feel better.

Nice comeback and I know it's only one game but maybe this will be the jolt they needed to escape their malaise.

Dang. Wheeler was lights out. Kimbrel made it interesting but awesome win in a close game. I'd be happy with a split on the road but taking three of four tomorrow would make my weekend.

Meanwhile Schwarber is the worst everyday player in baseball.
