Please use the thread for all pre-session, in-session, and post-session discussion for the Session III of the 2024 NCAA Championships.

When:
March 22, 12:00 pm EDT

Where:
T-Mobile Center, Kansas City, MO

TV:
ESPNU

Video Streaming:
ESPN+. Please note that this is the only way to get access to multiple mats. In past years, this was offered on ESPN3 (free to those that were ESPN subscribers), but last year ESPN switched MatCast to ESPN+, which is a subscription service.

Audio Streaming:
The radio PBP, with Jeff Byers at the mic, will be streamed for free. The pre-Session portion of the broadcast will begin at 11:40 am EDT, with the actual PBP of the matches taking place at 12:00 pm EDT. You can access the audio stream at:

Team Scoring:
The best place to track the team scoring is the Penn State Wrestling Club web site or TrackWrestling. The link for the PSWC site is:

Penn State Wrestling Club – wrestling lives here

pennstatewrestlingclub.org
pennstatewrestlingclub.org

PBP:
I'll be available for PBP for the entire session. @GregPickel will also be in the thread helping with PBP. Hopefully, several of you will also step forward and provide some analysis, or some comments on each match. As always, I remind you to please include the score for the match, or provide some context (wrestler, school, and weight class) beyond just "that's not a takedown." It also helps to give folks a heads up as to what mat a PSU wrestler will be wrestling on. You can usually get that info from Ironhead's audio PBP, from Penn State Wrestling's twitter account, or from TrackWrestling.

Being as that Tgar is lazy, how many wrestlers still alive for each program?

Thank you experts and dedicated information providers.

Is there a full round of consys before the quarters, or are they starting at the same time?

Do the championship bracket bouts start right away or do they lead off with the consolations first? Trying to figure out how disruptive my 1:30 meeting is going to be.

A subset is where are they (Championship or Consolation) wrestling?

In the Championship bracket, PSU has 8, Nebraska has 7, NC State & Michigan & Iowa State have 5

@GregPickel -- be prepared to do PBP on the Davis match. I just turned on the TV, and ... no picture. I'm resetting the cable box, but that takes some time to cycle through.

Edit: Resetting the cable box was the answer. I'm up and running. Of all the times to run into problems. smh

Byers said Starocci did not have full movement in his knee last night (not unexpected). Says the obvious that this will be a tough match for him against Lewis.

Yeah, it was pretty apparent he is not wrestling at full capacity right now. It's possible he can win it all but I think it's going to be a real tall task against Mekhi. If Mekhi scored a TD first I just don't know if Carter will have enough to battle back from that. We will find out soon though.

125: Championship Quarters:
#1 seed Braeden Davis vs. #8 seed Richard Figueroa (ASU) -- I'll use RF or Figs

Per 1
And a quick problem with the clock. smh. Davis on his knee a bit. Nothing thru 1st minute. Davis sort of shoots from the knees, nothing. 1:30 left. Davis reaches when on both knees, nothing. 1 min left. Figs in on a single, Davis sprawls, they scramble, Davis hips over, and they go OOB with 32 sec left. End

Per 2
Davis takes bottom. He sits out, gets his hips out, and is away, 1-0, in 12 sec. Ear-to-ear. 1 min left. Davis reaches, nothing. Davis really working rom his knees. Figs tries a duck near the end, but nothing. End. RT @ 12 sec for Figs

Per 3
Figs takes bottom. He's up turns in and gets a reversal, 1-2. Davis nearly gets caught but rolls through. Figs with a good ride. RT goes over 1 min. Davis to his knees, then feet, then down and sits out, nearly pulled back, nothing, then spins out, 2-2. RT @ 1:14 for Figs. OOB with 39 sec. Spike complaining at the table, and a warning on ASU bench. Davis in on a single, they scramble, Davis trying to spin around, and they go OOB with 8 sec left. Davis tries to come in but Figs is running away, and Davis complains to the ref (rightfully). With the RT, it's a 2-3 DEC for Richie Figs
