I finally got around to watching The Streak on Youtube last evening. Lots of good memories about that remarkable team and 4 year run of Nattys. Rose was revealed to be the coach and guy I always thought he was: a task master, perfectionist, Type A coach who was exactly what was needed to coach a team full of All American players. It was most remarkable to hear Alisha Glass tell the story about needing a "players only" meeting to salvage the season while they were beating everyone without losing a set. The message: pressure makes diamonds.
This doesn't surprise me.
Alexa came into the program out of high school and played well (IMO) as a freshman outside hitter.
Coach Katie has acquired great talent via the portal and Alexa has seen her court time reduced due to these transfers. When called on to replace a starter having a less than stellar outing, she delivered (again IMO).
I imagine that she sees more of the same in 2025 and wants to finish her collegiate vb career on the court vs. on the sideline.
Good luck to her.

With Caroline Jurevicius returning and Emmi Sellman transferring to the program, it makes sense. It's a shame for Penn State, though. It's always good to have as much depth as possible. Maybe either or both of the incoming Freshman OHs, Collins and Ewing, can help.

Alexa was very good at times, and I believe was on the all-B1G freshman team after her senior season. (And as @BobPSU92 mentioned, she was easy on the eyes.)
She was given opportunities this season, but never seemed to force her way into the lineup.
I haven't seen any interviews with her, but there are reports that:
1. she's looking to either transition to sand VB (which PSU doesn't offer), or play sand and indoor
2. she's a phenomenal student, who is slated to graduate in 3 years, and is looking to couple graduate studies and VB
It does leave PSU somewhat thin at pin hitters, which is kind of surprising. Returning, they'll have Caroline Jurevicius, and Karis Willow (a bit of an unknown, as she only appeared in 1 match as a freshman, and 2 matches as a soph this past season). They have Emma Sellman coming in as a transfer (she'll be a soph). Then, they have Marin Collins coming in this semester (she graduated early, so she'll practice this spring) and Alexis Ewing coming in this summer (her school, the Bulls School, does not allow early graduation). That's it for pin hitters. That seems to be one less than would be ideal (PSU lost Jess Mruzik and Camryn Hannah to graduation, and has only brought in Sellman), so PSU will either have to depend on one of the freshman, or will need to land one more OH from the portal.

PSU really needed a backup setter, and Addie seems to be a perfect fit for that role. Izzy Starck is a 6-rotation player, so there isn't a huge need for a backup setter for matches. That is, unless you don't have one, between illness and injury, you hate to be totally dependent upon one setter. (Quinn Menger is an emergency backup, but she's more of a serving specialist.)
People have been wondering since the portal opened what PSU would do with regards to a backup setter. It had to be a tough selling job for the coaches, as they needed a player that could step in whenever needed, but couldn't promise anyone a lot of playing time, with Izzy heading into her soph season.
Addie seems to be a perfect fit for the situation. She's a good setter, and only has one year of eligibility. She knows the situation, and gets to play for PSU in her final season.
BTW, Coach KSC's "bat signal," that she sends out when they get a commitment, went out today for Addie's verbal. It also was the 1st such bat signal to have 8 stars on it, to represent the 8 National Championships PSU has won.
