If you think this team is bad, look at last year's team at this time of the year.
Last year’s team caught lightning in a bottle and got incredibly hot at the right time. In truth, they weren’t as bad as their terrible start to the season, but definitely weren’t as good as they played in the last two months: they basically “out goalied” teams in their great run.

I don’t expect this season’s team to duplicate what last season’s team did. All of a sudden, they’re struggling to score, which I never thought would be a problem, and their defensive play and goaltending are subpar in most games. Right now, they appear to be no better than the fourth best team in the Big 10.

Last night’s game was a perfect example of what this team has done too much this season: get a two goal lead against a fragile team and then proceed to do absolutely nothing after that; it happened against Clarkson in a loss and OSU in a win. Also, the uncompetitive blow out losses to MSU and Michigan were big red flags to me about the true quality of this team.

Good win. Played much better tonight for the whole game.

Two other top teams lost in OT. They must not be very good either. 🙄
Some people demand perfection every step of the way as if the team owes it to them personally. I went to the 7 - 1 loss to Michigan. I was disappointed in the way they played. Michigan appeared to be the far better team. The next day PSU tightened things up, played an excellent game, and beat the team that seemed to be at a much higher level the night before. The season is a long process. Think back to last year. After an abysmal start, the team pulled together, caught fire, got superb goaltending in the second half, and made the Frozen Four. To me, what was heartening about the last three games is that PSU only gave up a total of six goals. It's nice to see them play strong defensively. If the goaltending - a big question mark at the beginning of the season - holds up, this team is a contender. Also, Aiden Fink should be back at some point in the season.

Right on the money. You really need to stop making sense. This clearly is NOT a good team…according to one poster. Lol

You get hit hard if you lose to an unranked team. That's my fear for this team that they will get a lot of splits this season with the way scoring has been down for them. A lot of inconsistent lines. There is a lot of talent in the Big Ten, even on unranked rosters.
This.

It didn't take long to go from #2 to #9.

1 pm the afternoon after a 6 pm start? Will the players even bother sleeping? I wonder if that giant yellow ball in the sky might have something to say about this?

PSU club hockey related.... Just announced yesterday that the Oklahoma State club ice hockey team will be playing the PSU club team at Beaver Stadium on January 29. Then they'll play the Icers at Pegula on the 30th. Seems like OkSU could be exploring the possibility of transitioning to D-1 but many other schools have explored it as well but never took the leap.
