2025 NCAA Championship Session V Thread

Session V of the NCAA Wrestling Championships will close out as follows:
-The 10 seventh place bouts are first
-The 10 fifth place bouts follow those.
-The 10 third place bouts follow those.
Penn State has one going for fifth and five going for third. So it'll be a bit until a Lion wrestles.
Medal round final matches
* indicates fifth place match. All others are third place matches.
125 pounds: No. 1 Luke Lilledahl, PSU vs. No. 2 Matt Ramos, Purdue
133 pounds: No. 8 Braeden Davis, Penn State vs. No. 6 Connor McGonagle, Virginia Tech*
141 pounds: No. 2 Beau Bartlett, PSU vs. No. 10 CJ Composto, Penn
149 pounds: No. 3 Shayne Van Ness, Penn State vs. No. 13 Dylan D’Emilio, Ohio State
157 pounds: No. 1 Tyler Kasak, PSU vs. No. 20 Trevor Chumbley, Northwestern
174 pounds: No. 2 Levi Haines, PSU vs. No. 11 Patrick Kennedy, Iowa
285 pounds: Greg Kerkvliet medically defaulted out of the tournament in the consolation semifinals to finish sixth.

Davis sort of tries some cement, but CM rolls with him. Stalemate. Davis shoots and gets a leg, puts CM in the Danger position, and Davis gets the TD, 3-0. 1 min left. CM to his feet, and he's out, 3-1. Davis in on a shot, CM goes over the shoulders, they scramble, and Davis with the PIN!!!! 2:33 the time of the pin!!!

Unfortunately we're 0-1 on interviews as Davis did not come to the mix zone for an interview but instead dipped right to the locker room. Hopefully better luck with the third place match participants!
Consider it a success when a wrestler ends a tournament higher ranked than he entered. Congrats to Davis for a successful season. It only gets better from here.
I don't think that's correct. I think we would have needed to go 9/9 to beat it, but could be wrong. Kerk MFF was a tough one...four points.dofferencd in 3d, correct?
so hopefully a few of you can step up during the 3rd place matches, to provide some coverage. I'll start with Luke, and when he's done I'll hold off until the next match involving a PSUer starts, and then go with that, etc.
