Ha, unfortunately, Penn State skips those at almost every opportunity.

If Carter, Mitch, and Barr all win tonight do they also get an advancement point in addition to the 4 extra points for getting first? If so, that’s 173 right there

They already get placement to worst they can finish. They add points if they win to the advanced placement. Finalists get two for the win.as they are already assumed as placing second

Right but right now their worst would be 12 placement points for 2nd. First place is 16 placement points

Levi has not looked himself since the first match.
Jumping up 2 weight classes in college wrestling is a tough feat. Guys are a lot taller and longer at 174. He seems to really struggle with those type of wrestlers. Levi is really strong which aloud him to dominate at 157, but not as much of an advantage at 174. Im hoping another offseason adjusting to this weight will pay benefits for next year.

Looks as though Lilledahl, Bartlett, and Van Ness will be wrestling at the same time, or at least with a good bit of overlap. smh

I haven't watched as much wrestling as a lot of you guys but I've never seen the bout order not follow the weight classes even if they start someplace other than 125. If anything, I thought they'd have Carter go last to highlight his quest for five. It's not as though the Steveson/Hendrickson match has any special significance. I guess the reality is the order of the bouts isn't important though. It doesn't matter who wrestles before/after you.

125 3rd Place Match: #1 seed Luke Lilledahl vs. #2 seed Matt Ramos (Purdue)

I'll use MR for Ramos

Ramos was undefeated on the season until Luke defeated him at the B1G Tourney

Per 1
Luke shoots, nothing. Ramos gets behind and gets the TD, 0-3. Luke out quickly, 1-3. Luke shoots, they scramble a bit, and Luke gets the TD, 4-3. Luke flattens MR. End.

Per 2
Luke takes bottom. He's out pretty quickly, 5-3. Luke nearly gets an ankle pick, nothing. MR shoots a double, Luke sprawls, stalemate with 25 sec left. MR shoots a double again, nothing. End. RT @ 8 sec for MR

Per 3
MR takes bottom. He works to his feet, returned, then hits a switch and they go OOB with 1:51 left. MR works up, returned, and then OOB with 1:41 left but awarded an esc, 5-4. RT not a factor (27 sec for Luke). MR shoots, then shoots again, nothing. MR shoots a double, Luke counters and takes MR to his back and gets the PIN!!!!!!! Time is 6:18.

Luke takes 3rd Place as a true freshman!!!!!

Don’t get caught up In The points for the record as awesome as it is. They changed the format last year so this record of total points will keep getting broken.

157 3rd Place Match: #1 seed Tyler Kasak vs. #20 seed Trevor Chumbley (NW)

I'll us TC for Chumbley

Per 1
Picking up in the 1st period with Kasak up 3-0 (after a TD). Kasak with a nice ride. Then TC to his feet, then returned. Kasak flattens him. RT goes over 1 min. Stopped with 28 sec left for a stalemate. TC up off the whistle, but Kasak returns him and flattens him on the edge. End RT @ 2:20 for Kasak

Per 2
Kasak defers, and TC takes neutral. Not a lot of action in the 1st minute. Lots of ear-to ear. Kasak nearly gets a leg but TC kicks free. End. RT @ 2:20 for Kasak

Per 3
Kasak takes bottom. Olympic start for TC, and Kasak out in 2 sec, 4-0. TC shoots a double, Kasak goes over the shoulders and has a body lock, they scramble, and Kasak gets the TD on the edge, 7-0. Nice scramble by Kasak. OOB with 51 sec left. RT is locked for Kasak. TC tries to turn in, Kasak won't allow it. Kasak gets the RT over 3 min. End. With RT, it's a 8-0 MAJor by Kasak

Kasak finishes in 3rd Place!!!

174 3rd Place Match: #2 seed Levi Haines vs. #11 seed Patrick Kennedy (Iowa)

I'll use PK for Kennedy

Picking this up in the 2nd period, with the score 7-2. (Haines with a 1st period TD, PK an esc, then Haines took bottom and escaped, then Haines with a TD, and PK with an esc). End

Per 3
PK takes bottom. PK sits out, Haines nearly pulls him back to the mat for points; eventually he flattens him. PK works up to his base. Haines throws in a boot. RT goes over 1 min for Haines. He needs a tilt for bonus points. 1 min left. Stalemate with 57 sec. PK turns and is away, 7-3. PK shoots and gets a leg, Haines with a body lock, they scramble, and Haines gets the TD, 10-3. End. With RT, it's a 11-3 MAJor for Levi Haines!!!!

He finishes in 3rd Place!!!!

Last year in the team score PSU was the points hog with second place Cornell being 100 points behind. This year PSU will likely break last year's record but there will be three other teams within 100 points. Not that it means anything. Just an observation.
