Think he’s still hurt. He doesn’t look comfortable out there
You may be right. There was some scuttlebutt at the beginning of the season, when he was really struggling, that he had a lingering issue from last season that could have been a relatively easy fix with surgery but the team (and possibly Harper himself) chose to work through it instead. I have no idea what that injury was/is.

The lingering injury was covered earlier in this thread, when Harper was out after getting hit in the right elbow. Last season, he had a wrist issue that started in May, and continued to bother him throughout the season. He resorted to wearing a protective black sleeve in August of last season, when the issue was bothering both his wrist and his elbow. Reportedly, there isn't anything structurally wrong, that surgery would correct. The wrist issue did not go away after taking a break during the offseason, and has been bothering him this season. After he was hit in the elbow earlier this season by a fastball thrown by Spencer Strider, the wrist problems seemed to flare up even more, and that's a large part of why he when on the IR.

A nice start to the game, especially with how the Fightins have been struggling early (and late) in recent games.

Crap, Duran in just to get some work (it seems), and gets hit on the outside of the ankle of his right foot by a batted ball by the 1st batter he faces (on the 4th pitch Duran threw). Seems to be in some discomfort.

Topper will get roasted if Duran is seriously hurt.
Not too worried. He wouldn’t have been wiggling his foot around if it was serious. I know they carted him off, but you have to baby pitchers. Stop the trauma immediately and get him scanned and healing asap.

not a Dr but have injured my ankles over 10 times. Took a hockey puck off same area - hurt like a ***** and got a bone bruise, but good to go in 2 weeks

Yeah I think with the lack of muscle or fat there, it was directly on bone. If there’s no break or fracture, it’s a bone bruise. Those sum biches hurt BAD for a day or 3, then are fine in a few weeks.

Yup, for example, as much as many footballers can be pussies and fake like they got shot on normal fouls, getting hit in the ankle or shin where there is no natural protection hurts like an SOB - especially for the first 30 seconds - and even if it’s not a hard knock. A baseball hitting there - yikes

From the article:

"Phillies manager Rob Thomson said pregame that “there’s a chance” Alec Bohm returns over the weekend from his rehab assignment. Bohm played his fifth game with Triple-A Lehigh Valley on Friday night, going 0 for 4. He's at 3 for 21 in this rehab stretch."

A family member was at the Iron Pig's game tonight. Said Bohm was 0-4. Rest of their report: One of the at-bats hit a fly almost to the warning track. The other 3 at-bats were just bad.

The family member also reported that Alvarado had some control issues, and worked himself into a bases loaded situation. However, he got out of it by getting the batter to ground the 3rd out to the 3rd baseman.

Alvarado with control issues? Color me surprised.

As a former outdoor soccer player, I can attest to this. Getting kicked in the ankle hurts like a mother. Bare bone. Getting stepped on with studs will also put you on the ground fast.

Another pathetic offensive performance. Nats' pitching has been abysmal this season but they make the Phillies look like a AA team. This team is going nowhere in the playoffs.
