Luzardo hits the lead off batter in bottom 5, then goes on to give up three hits before he's pulled, Kerkering comes in and gives up a bases loaded base hit. No lead is safe for the Phils. Mets send 10 men to the plate. It actually could have been worse. 5-2 bad guys. Phil's have just 3 runs on 11 hits.

And the bullpen implodes again. This team is headed nowhere fast. They get swept tomorrow and then who knows?

The division is very far from over, but it may not matter with their bullpen.

Not that anyone cares, but Jeff Hoffman gave up 4 runs to the lousy Twins in the 9th to blow another save. His ERA is approaching 5.

Sanchez kicking trash cans Monday, Luzardo going off last night. Can't wait for tonight with CB Buckner behind the plate. What could go wrong?

Wondering if the Mets might retaliate after getting hit 5 times the past two nights.

I love the Phillies, but the Mets make us look like a very average baseball team. Its sad.

It looks like they're just going through the motions.....no life at all in this team.

The Phillies had to.come into NY and at least win one. This is real bad.

This team has no fire in it at all IMO. I believe that is because there is a milquetoast manager in the dugout. This guy has as much passion as a wet fart. This team needs a kick in the nuts, but even that isn’t going to get it done. Thomson operates on the “switch” being thrown and the team kicking it into gear. Well when the car’s engine is blown your only option is to push it!

This series showed something we all know. The Phillies are limited in their ability to score runs when Schwarber struggles. It shows us all a glimpse of what the future looks like if somebody steals him.
I think this roster has run its course. We are seeing that this year. Part of turning this over may be letting a guy like Schwarber walk.

They need payroll flexibility and have quite a few decisions to make on aging stars. And others like Casty and Nola aren’t movable due to being overpaid.

It’s a mess and feels like the time where Dombrowski exits stage right to avoid the cleanup.

Oh. Letting Schwarber walk is not going to be a popular take.

I agree. Nobody wants to see the 2025 version of Schwarber walk. But he’s in his mid-30s and they need to be careful about being locked into many huge contracts with declining stars. Exhibit A is Nola.

Schwarber has hit close to 200 HR in a Phillies uniform. He isn’t the reason they haven’t won a title, but their overall recipe has failed.

I get where you are coming from. This is why I kept saying their window is closing fast. They needed to make a big move for an impactful OF bat and they didn’t. Duran and Bader were nice additions, but now they have an awkward OF rotation of guys with all similar skill sets at the plate which is probably not enough to get them where they want to be. They are still way too HR dependent from a handful of guys with not much meaningful offense otherwise. All I will say is that there are examples of guys in their 30’s still having good success and Schwarber is still playing at a high level. I think he should get a deal from the Phils. They desperately need an outfielder who is more consistent. Maybe Crawford is the guy? Time will tell.

Yeah. So? What does their offense look like when they don’t hit HRs? Is it good? Or just average without HRs? Are you confident winning a playoff series with the offense if they don’t hit a HR (or multiple HRs) every game? Look, I get it. You really like the Phillies. Maybe too much to objectively see what they are. They are an all or nothing team. Their bats are either really hot or really cold and not much in between. At some point you have to acknowledge it.
