Yeah. So? What does their offense look like when they don’t hit HRs? Is it good? Or just average without HRs? Are you confident winning a playoff series with the offense if they don’t hit a HR (or multiple HRs) every game? Look, I get it. You really like the Phillies. Maybe too much to objectively see what they are. They are an all or nothing team. Their bats are either really hot or really cold and not much in between. At some point you have to acknowledge it. With that being said, if the bats are hot in October, they absolutely have as good a chance as anyone of winning it all.
I'm just providing actual statistics instead of speculating. They stats say that their HR dependency is average, not extreme.

Sure I like the Phillies but that isn't the point. People in this thread are constantly drawing exaggerated conclusions based on zero statistical evidence. I'm just trying to correct that when I see it.

Every team is hot and cold. It's the nature of baseball. The Phillies may be a bit more but not to the degree that everyone thinks.
And I've been saying all year that if they get hot in October, they have a great chance to win it all. That can be said about almost every team that wins the WS. You have to get hot at the right time. Ask the 2009-2011 Phillies who were arguably better than the 2008 Phillies.

Well, statistically they had 1 HR in the Mets series. They left 19 runners on base and went 3 for 22 with runners in scoring position. With those statistics, they got swept by a mediocre Mets team.

And they just scored 29 runs in the Seattle series. Neither sample size of 3 games has much relevance in the big picture.

They also had 9 HRs in that Seattle series. I think we have a big enough sample size at this point, going back to last year, including the playoffs, to know what the Phillies are.

Yep. One of the top 5-6 teams in MLB who currently have the 2nd or 3rd best betting odds to win the WS (per Draft Kings, Bovada, and Betonline).

I have to give you credit. You may be the most positive Philly fan I have ever met. 🤣 Good for you. I hope they win it all.

Grant, I thought sports book odds reflected the betting public more than expert confidence in a team winning.

I doubt you’d see a majority of MLB experts saying the Phillies are the 2nd or 3rd most likely championship winner right now.

The challenge is October brings good pitching. Phillies O in season = PSU football vs blue hens. October Phillies = State v ND

Imagine if Schmitty didn’t play during the most recent dead ball era and got to play at the Bank. He’d probably be over 600 hrs. During the 70s, even 40 hr seasons weren’t that common
Schmitty? Imagine the numbers guys like Dave Parker and Stargell would have in today’s game?

So I decided to OD on college football tonight instead of watching the Phils. It figures they'd go berserk when I'm not watching. I'll have to get by on the highlights.

And c'mon. They almost HAVE to get a deal done with Schwarber now.

The Mets are down to the Marlins late. @Grant Green has an “I told you so” message queued up and ready. 😉

Kidding aside, 10 of tonight’s runs would have been great in NY. They need to exorcise the Mets demons and soon.

Phils and Mets are right where they were 10 games ago, 5 game lead. Somehow the Marlins can walk into Citi Field and get a nice 7-4 win. It can't be that difficult.

It is nice to see a very competent center fielding roaming the outfield. Bader’s also OPSing over .800 now as a Phillies.
It’s also nice to have Casty on the pine given the platooning they’re doing in the OF. Can’t hurt us on defense if he’s sitting and maybe this will cut down on his selfishness at the plate. Sick of his ******** ABs

Casty has been a problem for two years now. Does he have one more year left on his deal after this one?
