Danielle Whitmire, 6'2", Setter/Right Side, Prep Dig #5 overall ranked player in the high school class of 2026, PSU commit. Penn State will be just fine at setter next year. KMart isn't going to leave because of the setter situation.
I know we have a good one coming in but she's an unknown, wasn't part of the equation when KMart made the decision to transfer in. I hope you're right.

It was great to see the ladies get a solid ranked win on Friday night. I hope this gives them some confidence to get things rolling and show them than Izzy or not, they are still capable of hanging with the big dogs. Serve receive was a lot better on Fri, and the block showed up. Fantastic win.

they fell behind in S5, then battled back and nearly tied it up, but couldn't quite continue the late run.

As most here know, Penn State is the only program in the nation to appear in every NCAA volleyball tournament since its inception in 1981. Will this be the year the streak ends? This loss, to an average Washington team, does not bode well.

Washington scores 108 points.
17 from Penn State service errors. IIRC, there were 2 straight service errors in set 4. Long and into the net.
Giving a team that many free points is crazy.

I'd think they still find a way but they can't lose many more matches like this. Can't wait until S3 to show up

It's even worse when they serve out of bounds after a Washington TO. Pretty sure it happened in the 5th after making a nice run.

Think of giving a team 50 years in offsides/illegal motion penalties a game. Just mind boggling.

It's definitely looking like it's at risk. Also per the broadcast last night PSU has been ranked in the top 25 since 1988. That may be at risk as well. This team is a condundrum, they looked much improved against Wisconsin last weekend but last night serve receive wasn't good, the block was invisible, and 17 service errors is inexcusable.

The timing of the serving errors was just as bad as how many there were. It seemed that they had an error many times after they built some momentum, and several times it happened out of a time out. These ladies all know how to get a serve in if it's important. On my team we call it a "million dollar serve," as in, if someone said they'd give you a million dollars to execute a serve without an error you'd do it easily. This team needs to take that mindset sometimes. At some point you have to stop serving aggressive and keep the ball in play, especially when you have momentum. You can't give the opponent a free pass to stop the momentum by making unforced errors, make them earn their points.

PSU played poorly in all areas early and in the middle of the set. They came roaring back at the end, but had dug too big of a hole.

S3 was kind of strange. PSU had the lead, nearly gave it up very late in the set, but made a few key (and/or lucky) shots at the end to go up 2-1

They were up big, 18-13 IIRC, then let Oregon back in the match by making errors on something like 6 of the next 8 points. This team is just ridiculously error-prone, it's frustrating to watch. BTN said if you add up serve, receive and hitting errors from the Washington match PSU committed 54 errors. So we are giving away 2 sets and only making teams earn one to win a match. That just can't happen. They managed to win against Oregon but nearly blew set 3 due to errors and again had something like 17 service errors in the match. I don't understand how players at this level are committing so many errors.
