Well, we maintained the streak of being in the poll, though work remains if they want to stay in the poll throughout the season.

Any chance Izzy comes back and plays at Penn State?

Nothing has been officially announced by either side (Izzy/her family, or PSU).

The indications, from people who usually have good inside info, are that, unfortunately, she's not returning.

Whitmire, the incoming setter, is supposed to be really elite -- she's the #4 recruit in the 2026 class. That said, her senior season ended a short time ago due to a knee injury that required surgery. As such, PSU may need to try to get a setter from the portal, which opens up in under a month.

Very doubtful. If the rumors are true she probably isn't on very good terms with the team and it would probably be best for both parties to go their separate ways.
THANK YOU PSUSignore and Tom for the replies. She had a great 2024 season (AVCA and Big Ten freshman of the year)-what happened?

What the f happened? Their best player bolts with no real explanation other than mental health break…

Disappointing first 2 sets. Had chances to win both. Is Jurevicious injured? She’s dressed but wearing a warmup jacket.

So...her not returning (which she won't) in no way can be spun as "best for both parties". I fully understand the point you're making and sometimes people need to move on but she's about as big of a loss as a program can have. Best of luck to her but this is all bad for Penn State. Great recruiting class though!

It's best for both parties if you consider the reason for her leaving the team in the first place, again assuming the rumors are true. Given the situation with her coaches and teammates I don't see how she'd come back and be able to happily co-exist with them. Yes losing her is big if you just think of her as a setter and nothing more, but that ship has sailed. Fortunately we have an excellent setter in this class.

All fair--but she's the best setter in the country. Period. Losing her is a huge loss for us.
It's great for any team that gets her.

It will be interesting to see where she ends up. The volleyball community is tight, other coaches will talk to coach Katie first. Someone will definitely take her, assuming she still wants to play, but I have a feeling it won't be one of the big, historically successful programs.
