RBY has a guy from Canada who was teched by one of the finalists.RBY pulled back into reparchage but Spencer Lee was not. RBY and Rin are on opposite sides so no chance of them wrestling.

and it wasn’t just some lucky TD and quick turns. He just put it on himI was shocked by the Harutyunyan tech fall over Spencer Lee. That’s the same guy that Daton teched in the world championships a few years ago, right?
Rin has Canada. RBY has Cruz vs Rea D3 guy from Wilkes PA winner. Then Harutyunan for bronzeRBY has a guy from Canada who was teched by one of the finalists.
The singlet pull before the one they looked at was the one a point should've been awarded on but the buzzer wasn't working. That was BS . The last one I didn't see a pullJax got royally screwed! IMO, he earned being a World Medalist!
I will refer to him from now on as World Medalist Jax Forrest!
Just saw that.Rin has Canada. RBY has Cruz vs Rea D3 guy from Wilkes PA winner. Then Harutyunan for bronze
What did you think about the exposure exchanges? The singlet pull before the one they looked at was the one a point should've been awarded on but the buzzer wasn't working. That was BS . The last one I didn't see a pull
In freestyle they will always award the offensive wrestler unless the defense guy changes the direction. I saw KAZ lift the leg and as Jax was going back he grabbed the shoulder. I didn't have an issue with those. The buzzer not working cost him 1 for sure on a singlet grab that Zo was trying to challengeWhat did you think about the exposure exchanges?
There needs to be an appeal situation when the tourney equipment malfunctions. In freestyle they will always award the offensive wrestler unless the defense guy changes the direction. Insane that something like that can happen at the highest level of sport. The singlet pull before the one they looked at was the one a point should've been awarded on but the buzzer wasn't working. That was BS . The last one I didn't see a pull
Jax was robbed. It was pretty clear. It’s unfathomable that he had never really focused on freestyle and he was still learning rules and technique earlier this year.Tough loss but what an outstanding tournament for Jax. His physicality and defense have been a revelation
I think it’s folkstyle focus for most of the careers on these guys.Hidley is world champ. Came back from 0-8 to win 13-10. Don’t know what it is about how Americans train, but we never seem to gas the way Russians or Iranians do.
We actually put a premium on mentally wrestling hard and trying to "break" people. The rest of the world doesn't think like that at all about wrestling.Hidley is world champ. How does the rest of the world think? More technique based? We actually put a premium on mentally wrestling hard and trying to "break" people. The rest of the world doesn't think like that at all about wrestling.
With the exception of my 2nd all-time favorite wrestler Besik Kudukhov. Dude wanted to break everyone he wrestled.
They think of wrestling as more of an art from. How does the rest of the world think? More technique based?
He is referred to a World Medalist Jax around here! Now watched Jax's matches. Man... how is he so strong lol. He looks tiny but just whoops dudes with all kinds of traditional and unconventional techniques. Beyond excited for this kid to be a Poke! Can't wait to see what he can do with mat wrestling too
There aren't degrees of back points in freestyle... just back points. Once his back is exposed, he needs to get back to a "defensible position" in order for further back points to be awarded. Now watched Jax's matches. Man... how is he so strong lol. OK again I don't get freestyle. At the end of the 1st period how did Uguev only get 2 points? He took Jax down and then exposed Jax several times. I counted 6-8 points but the refs awarded 2... so confused.
That’s fine, I agree on one exchange there. There aren't degrees of back points in freestyle... just back points. Once his back is exposed, he needs to get back to a "defensible position" in order for further back points to be awarded.
Did you watch it?Jayden loses 5-1 in the quarterfinals. Don’t know if he’s been pulled back into repachage or not.
I really like the idea of focusing Greco. Nobody seems to and it feels like a useful path to World/Olympic medals. The Raneys seem to have a bright future in Greco tho. We might have a couple consistent medalists in a few years.
I watched it. He was out muscled, his opponent was the 1 seed and a multiple time world champ. He scored 5 points in the 1st and Raney really went after him in the 2nd, but couldn't get much going. Raney was starting to wear him out, but not enough horsepower.Did you watch it?
Agreed. But not only that, A folkstyle wrestler w/ high level greco skills is a dangerous opponent. Guys who dont have a feel for it are at a disadvantage imo. A high level greco guy will feel times when his opponent has put themelves in a vulnerable position and the other guy wont have a clue. Just the training of using the hips so much is so valuable in all positions. How many matches have we all watched that a better wrestler was beaten by a guy with crazy good hips? IYKYK.I really like the idea of focusing Greco. Nobody seems to and it feels like a useful path to World/Olympic medals.
Shoot, I take an Olympic Bronze in breakdancing if I could. I’d be so dang proud of a Greco medal I’d be lonely because I’d be too hard to be around.
