Agreed. But not only that, A folkstyle wrestler w/ high level greco skills is a dangerous opponent. Guys who dont have a feel for it are at a disadvantage imo. A high level greco guy will feel times when his opponent has put themelves in a vulnerable position and the other guy wont have a clue. Just the training of using the hips so much is so valuable in all positions. How many matches have we all watched that a better wrestler was beaten by a guy with crazy good hips? IYKYK.
Yes, that too! Plus, all these youth programs and many HS programs hate throwers and don’t teach it much.

So really, it’s a huge advantage.

...the #1 who beat him failed in his responsibility by losing his next match to prevent the
Raney from medal........a most rare accomplishment in a world competition by age.....

There aren't degrees of back points in freestyle... just back points. Once his back is exposed, he needs to get back to a "defensible position" in order for further back points to be awarded.
Was the two for the takedown or the exposure?

When they went to the ground, neither had control to count as a takedown. Through their scrambling on the ground, Uguev gained control by back exposure gaining him the 2pts. Jax would have had to get to a defensible position (on his stomach) for another back exposure to receive more points. Since he never was in a position to defend further back exposure, only the 2 original exposure points counted. Not sure if that clears anything up but agree that the nuances of freestyle are not always intuitive and often feels subjective.

Thanks! Wild. So Uguev only got exposure points but no points for getting control of Jax. I don’t get it but I understand lol
