How about every other sport at psu?

Why is it mostly 5* wrestlers producing? Who is coaching Davis?

What was Cael's excuse at ISU?

Psu Wrestling also has the highest paid staff. Pa is the state with the most talent surrounded by other talent rich states. Wrestling is also one of the sports with the least competition. Half the P5 schools don't even have wrestling. Sec schools put that money into football. You never saw edinboro, clarion or Bloomsburg with top 10 finishes in football.
This has to be close to a world record of butthurt. LOL.

Is Davis done or could he still qualify for NCAAs? He's a solid wrestler for about 4 minutes of each match but the tank is just not there this year.
Maybe it just feels like this question has been asked and answered 5x already today ...

Simple version:
1. He's in if he beats DeKraker tomorrow. He beat DeKraker 9-0 in the dual.
2. If he loses to DeKraker, there are 4 At Large spots. Most likely he will be the #1 or #2 candidate in that pool. Worst case, there will not be 4 better candidates. He's in.

===========

Detailed version of At Large selection:

H2H (25%): Davis cannot lose this category. All of his losses have been to 2026 NQs.

Coaches' Rank (15%): He will win this. Currently 12th, with the top 11 and 14 of the top 18 qualified. The other 3 besides Davis are the top 3 seeds at ACCs, which gets 5 spots (out of 7 schools). Those 3 are all ranked below Davis, and will likely all qualify anyway. #19 Basile and #20 Manville both need an At Large -- but Davis won't drop below them.

Conf Placement (10%): He will lose this to Basile and tie Manville. He would also lose this to any of the 3 ACC seeds if they need it.

Common Opponents (10%): He cannot lose this. Mendez, Hardy, Bailey, Vombaur, and Olivieri have combined for 0 losses to potential at large candidates.

Win % (10%): Davis is at 11-5 (68.8%) -- this is historically above average for at large candidates. He will lose this to Basile and beat Manville. If any of the ACC top 3 seeds need this, Davis will likely beat them.

RPI (10%): Davis' RPI will be somewhere around 12-15th. Basile beats him. He beats Manville. He's likely ahead of any of the ACC top 3 seeds if they need an At Large.

Cannon is done. MFF out. Why the hell did you throw him out there in the first place Tan man? Not how we would have done it.
I am just getting started reading this. So if this was already rebutted sorry, not meaning to pile on. Cannon did not MFF. He is in the consci SFs.

By God, it's fun watching Iowa Wrestling. They score so many points so fast, it's hard to keep up with them.
The friend I am sitting with attended 2 Iowa summer camps back when he was in HS. He follows the Lions, but doesn't watch much. Several times he mentioned that if someone had told back when the Brands were coaching him at those camps that a Brands coached Iowa would be one of the least offensive teams he has ever seen he would have dismissed them as not knowing much about wrestling.

The fat lady is about to sing on Nebraska. Each time they wrestle and fail to earn a bonus, they lose 2 points off their max.

They have a max of 165 and 11 matches yet to wrestle. If they win all 11 by decision, their max drops to 143. We already have 146.5

OSU is not quite so desperate, but even if they win all 15 of their matches tomorrow, we would have to **** the bed.

This is a dumb question I'm sure but does those max include bonus? Like is that with all pins?ha

They do, so as each match passes where a wrestler doesn't achieve "max points" (including a pin), the max points drops by the differential. duhO$U has 7 in the Consi Semis and 1 in 7/8 match, while PSU only has 2 in Session 3 (PSU already has 8 thru to Finals), soooo..... by the end of Session 3, duhO$U's max point potential is likely to drop quite a bit, while PSU's is likely to only drop by < than a couple points.

One observation, I couldn't sit watching the matches at home, what great exciting wrestling, great exciting clutch wrestling.

I have followed Penn State wrestling since 1969, traveled all across the country hoping we got maybe 1 champ, maybe one AA. (there were only 6 AA's back then)

It makes me laugh that the most posts here are about Scooter, he was seeded 6 and is wrestling today for 7th and an automatic bid, I only have this to say, Go get Em Scooter. He did beat DeKraker 9-0 in the dual meet this year, but we shall see.

On the positive side, he only has to deal with one match at a time…unlike the quarters where he had SVN, PJ and Mitch all going at the same time. Still, we truly appreciate Slippery’s slick fingers…the finals will be a test of longevity with 8 of 10 weights.
The debut of the slippery Pete quad pod in two weeks is going to blow you away!

Not to mention that his original seed was 7

Barr is absolutely incredible. Somehow with all the amazing wrestlers on this team, he does not get enough shine. He's sensational.
And as it happens on here 2 years ago he was a typical Davidson wrestler who shoots straight on and can't finish against Sinclair and other good kids. Oh my, portal, portal, portal.
Maybe one of these days we might learn really good kids come to PSU to learn and get better.

It's Davison btw (the B10 announcers say it wrong all the time too). I moved to Davison a couple months after I graduated from PSU in Dec '90 for my first job with GM in Flint
