My point is that it's about the approach toward winning the Hodge. It's a judgment award, in which subjectivity plays a role. Thus, the manner and "style" that a wrestler wins makes a difference. When MM is a beast scoring at will, that's some nice style points for a Hodge. Quick falls are also style points. Mendez got a TF in approximately 2 minutes of the 1st period today. That's impressive and what I consider style points. Does that make sense? If I use the wrong terminology, my fault. Just trying to be a contributor to the board. I'm not an expert in the sport of wrestling, but I have fallen in love with it. Give me a break.

No breaks shall be given! Seriously though, we can circle back to the Hodge discussion after the semis and finals. No one is going to remember Mendez TFs in the first couple of rounds against lesser competition.

Just glad that bad stretch for the Cowboys put a halt to any growing Stilly Boys hype from Flo and such. It was going to be insufferable if they had 9 in the quarters or so.

Shane can further the cause early tomorrow. I’d love to see him bow and arrow and pin Swiderski
Pause, not halt. It'll be back too soon.

Our 141 pounder got hurt. He's the back up
I totally don't get your reply . I was commenting in regards to Hardy being in better shape. Hardy discovered he could pick his ankle because Davis was too upright. Davis was an All- American last year, it's not like he was a 3rd year back-up.
On the numerous comments the last 2 months about his maturity and attitude.
My guess is , he wasn't thrilled that he lost his red shirt because he was considering leaving at the end of this year. I think his emotions might be tied to that situation.
Just my thought .

I wonder why the Flo team scores page shows different scores and team order (from, e.g., the Penn State wrestling club page):

It's only half a point, but Ohio State has 23. See some saying they have 22.5

I can speak for the PSWC scores. I think the PSWC and the Flo scores align except for Oklahoma State and NC State.

Oklahoma State may have lost a team point along the way. Otherwise, the PSWC score looks correct to me.

I think Flo has NC State’s score wrong. Flo’s score was 1 less than the PSWC score after Session 1. It looked like Flo didn’t have the 149 pounder linked to the team, which was causing the difference.

I have no clue. Usually it comes down to either a mistake in the formula, or inaccurate results entered. I think there was an issue with the PSWC standings a few years ago, when their formula didn't reflect a change made to how the NCAA was scoring things at their Championships. But they identified it in a day (I think), and corrected it. I use that just as example that these sources are not infallible -- not that the PSWC's number are wrong in this case.

Cole is small for heavyweight. He doesn't have good length or frame to put on good weight, so he is what he is. I said this two years ago but got dogged on by the emotional.

The other twin won't make the lineup anytime soon, so will be very surprised if they both don't transfer. Very surprised this hasn't been mentioned as much as it should. Seems obvious.
I'm thinking Missouri.

Paths to AA for Scooter and Cole:

Scooter
  • Scooter first has the winner of 20 Tagg vs 29 Titus
  • Then the winner of 12 Simcox / 28 Manville vs 11 Composto
  • Then he has to beat the loser of 1 Mendez vs 8 Vombauer (both of whom he lost to by TF this season)
Cole
  • Cole has to first beat the winner of 26 Luffman vs 23 Monchery
  • Then he has to beat the winner of 18 Carroll / 31 Morgan vs 16 Mullen
  • Then he has to beat the loser of 3 Ghadiali vs 27 Catka
Scooter looks to have a pretty tough draw, but Cole’s looks very manageable.

Honestly I just had Cole placing top 6 at regular seasons end. He’s just been different in the post season. I’d probably wager he’s battling injury because he just hasn’t looked the same as he did mid January on …
When someone just isn’t very good, let’s not be like Iowa fans and make an excuse. Cole is a fringe All American, it’s what he is. Kueter who’s another fringe AA has just beat him twice

Davis obviously needed more time to adjust to 141. The plan was for 26/27 season. Kudos to him for putting team first and giving it a go. He can't get away with some of his risky moves at 141 like he could at lighter weights. And Hardy is just better period.

You sure about that? Only 8 wrestlers left in the championship bracket. Very likely Davis and Mirasola eliminated completely tomorrow.
You obviously are not familiar with either this message board or Penn State strategy. Eight, my friend, is the magic number. With eight scoring wrestlers, we win, pure and simple. 😎

You might be right. Davis is far from top tier on this team, but this year he has hit a new level. The problem is its a lower level. Emotionally he's been on edge for sure, skill wise just plain off, bad positions constantly, I just don't get it. 3 years a starter, he should have cruised to another AA. Sure he is up a couple of weights, and was supposed to redshirt. Having only 4 months to get ready is a lame excuse, yada yada, tell that to Jax. Whatever is going on with scooter we will probably never know, but this season just doesn't pass the smell test with me. He is/was better than the product we saw all season. There is a backstory I still appreciate that three times he answered the call, but I wish for him that development curve was still peaking. Even so he was one of the strongest 'holes' in the lineup we have had for the past decade.

Luke smacked his head hard off the resilite that's why he didn't finish the ankle pick on Jett in the first. You can hear a good smack when the side of his head hit.

Where would they go? Cole will always be a heavyweight. They both can't wrestle 197. In would only benefit Connor.

I’d actually love to see Bailey beat Vega. That kid annoys me for some reason. I hate his style.
Also. I like. Kennedy more than Kcharxhla.
Him and Caliendo I can root for
Only problem is, I think vega has a better shot at beating Mendez.
