In the .00001% chance he could get that headlock again. What else was he going to do? If he goes down he gets ridden like a mule and if he goes neutral MM takes him down in about 5 seconds.
Was waiting for someone to go for a big move against Mitch. Not that it was likely to work but props to him for trying something different. Seemed to just piss Mitch off though.

@GregPickel, can you check the NCAA Wrestling twitter account, or the Big Ten Wrestling twitter account? Both have tweets about Mitch, with the NCAA tweet showing video. Alas, both are telling me it's adult content (WTF?), so I can't post them. I'm hoping you can access them, and then post them.

Period 1:
Here we go. Circling, tying up & hand fighting. Levi shoots, but Minto blocks him off. Levi takes Minto to the edge. Minto works back in a bit, but then Levi pressures him back to the edge. Levi reaches, but can't get there. Levi drives Minto out. Stall warning on Minto. Circling & tying up. Minto reaches for an ankle, but can't get there. Tying up & hand fighting again. Minto gets to a leg, but Levi fights out of it & drives Minto to the edge. He shoots, but Minto circles away. Levi keeps the pressure on. Minto pushes back to center. Stoppage & warning on Minto for something. Circling, head taps & hand fighting, then tying up. Levi shoots, but Minto kicks away. Tying up & hand fighting to end the period. 0-0
Period 2:
Levi takes down. Caution on Levi. Levi pops to his feet, but Minto brings him back down. Levi pops back up, gets hand control & the escape, 1-0. Hand fighting & collar ties. Levi reaches, but can't get there. Heavy collar ties & pushing in the center. Minto with some fakes, but not much more. Levi shoots, but Minto blocks him off. Levi shoots again, but Minto blocks him off again. Minto looks to the clock, 37-sec left. Levi presses forward taking Minto to the edge. He shoots, Minto counters. Levi re-attacks & they go out of bounds, neutral restart. Minto gets another stall warning, point Levi, 2-0. Collar ties & hand fighting to end the period. 2-0 Levi
Period 3:
Minto takes down. He rolls, then pops up & gets the escape, 2-1. Collar ties & hand fighting. Levi takes Minto to the edge & shoots. He gets in deep on a leg. Minto comes over the top. Levi keeps driving & tries to come out the backdoor. They roll & go out of bounds. Levi locks up both legs, but he was too late, neutral restart. Collar ties & hand fighting. Levi presses forward again. Minto shoots, but can't get there. He shoots again, but same result. The third time is the same. He tries a drag, but no luck. Minto gets an underhook & shoots, but Levi fights out of it & evades all his attacks & takes the win.

Great job Levi! Minto is very tough and large and doesn't actively engage until the end of the match. Hard to do much else with that guy.

Common strategy for most Penn State opponents: lots of head slaps and staying away, hoping for a close 3rd period.
Absolute pleasure watching Levi the last 4 years. What a great kid, wrestler, and role model.
