Duke had a cradle and didn't get a TD, no way Valencia had control.
This. If you call a TD when a guy is locked up in cradle, knocked to his hip and then has his back exposed like it’s called 100 out of 100 times last night, then I’m not going to ***** about getting that called on Shane tonight. But if you’re going to overturn last night, don’t tell me that was a TD tonight.

It's hard to believe Valencia was getting in that deep on what looked like really poor shots but SVN wasn't moving much

I believe that takedown was cultural corruption. The ref preferred Valencia because of shared heritage.

This is not a great showing for officials and official reviews this weekend. Nobody is consistent with anything. It's hard to explain this sport to people that don't already love wrestling. Shame.
Candidly, they should just do away with all of the review **** and bricks. It’s waaaaaay too disruptive to match flow and has just become a mechanism for lungers.

and not just this sport. Ffs, athletes need to grow a set and stop being babies with their inability to live with the potential for human error

Bummer. I think Shane should stay away from that defense position where he’s over top of the guy. If he had held on to the sprawl with the Valencia’s arms stretched out, the ref would’ve called a stalemate and that uses up a lot of energy for the guy who made the attack.

How can you justify the first stalling call on SVN when he was throwing a headlock at the edge, then a Valencia goes straight out of bounds and no stall call?
They change rulebooks during matches. Seriously though, there is a narrative they want to push tonight and it ain't about PSU's greatness. This is OkSt's coronation, PSU won't be getting any close calls at all.

I don’t get it. Van Ness is better than him, at least at this point in their careers. That’s frustrating.

I'd concur on where they are at this point. However, Valencia really attacked SVN, and got 2 TDs on him. And while we've seen SVN fall behind before, and then have a bigger tank in the 3rd period, Valencia was the aggressor in the 3rd period and in SV-1. SVN is usually pretty good at blocking shots, and then quickly getting around on a counter. Valencia didn't give him opportunity tonight.

The frequent blood stoppages had to be called, but they worked to SVN's disadvantage (or, at least didn't allow him to out tank in the 3rd period; not sure if he would have been able to against Valencia).

SVN's biggest regret (besides losing) is probably that he was unable to convert the TD at the end of the 2nd period. He was close on that, but Valencia's whizzer prevented SVN from completing the TD before the buzzer sounded.

Replay should be used to overturn absolutely horrible calls. If the review cannot be done in 30 seconds, call on the mat stands. If you challenge and lose, at a minimum it should be treated like an injury and the opponet gets choice, even better, a point like in freestyle. Challege at the end of the match and lose, it is a team point deduction.

I don’t get it. Van Ness is better than Valencia, at least at this point in their careers. I think significantly. That’s frustrating.
SVN has not been the model of consistency, despite being undefeated. And Valencia wrestled a great match. SVN maybe not at his best, but it's also okay to credit the opponent.

As someone not sitting around other Penn State fans, the Penn State hate is real and it’s extreme. Grown men flipping off Shayne when he lost. For what reason? Has Shayne ever done anything controversial or been anything other than a worthy opponent?
