Was McGowan lacing the fingers and just refusing to let go? I couldn’t tell what was going on with the two of them shaking the arms.
They need to go no warnings for stall. First one is a point. Then 4th one (maybe even 3rd) is dq instead of 5th. Maybe that'll get kids like McGowan to wrestle.
NCAA Wrestling needs to make finger-lacing illegal again. Has completely destroyed the pace of several nationally televised matches.

McGowan should have been stalled out a second time. The coaches need to insist that the refs call stalling. That has to be a point of emphasis going forward. Most of the matches tonight suck and are boring because the refs refuse to call stalling.
McGowan should have been disqualified once again for stalling. Good grief kid. You get maybe one chance at this, and that's how you show up.
Hard to take shots when the other guy is on a knee or grabbing your fingers.
Tough to do when the opponent just blocks and backs away, grabbing fingers the whole time.

Way to go Luke! Other than feeling bad for Duke and SVN and somewhat for Blaze, I feel really good about how Penn State's tournament went.
That's not on PSU -- that's the strategy opponents are taking. Do nothing and hope to steal in the end. McGowan was doing nothing but grabbing fingers and retreating until the final minute.
I had guys over , new to wrestling, thank God they came over to watch the semifinals last night and not the finals tonight.
You're allowed to grab fingers this year. It's low key one of the worst things to happen to the sport. Can't believe they changed the rule to allow it

If you’re Luke, hard to shoot when your opponent constantly backs up and grabs fingers for 7 minutes. Good job by Luke to win against a guy who didn’t want to wrestle
I didn't say it earlier, but when I saw the referee in Luke's match I was glad as he has shown himself to be willing to call stalling, which he did!
He took exactly 0 shots in 7 minutes, I don’t care what the other guy does that is just pathetic. You can create your offense
First stall should be a point, second stall two points, etc. Problem is, the refs refuse to call stalling. Thanks to the refs, we do not know what a TD is, their is no consistency in their calls...tonight is borderline unwatchable.
Thats exactly what he was doing. Luke was trying to shake him lose over and over again.

About time they reffed a match to make a guy wrestle - if he refuses to wrestle, then he should be penalized. Just ridiculous that a guy makes the National Finals and then refuses to go out and wrestle for the title and try to "win the title" rather than that bs which is not wrestling and should NEVER be rewarded.
So it's become clear that the vast majority of the rest of the field has developed a strategy vs Penn State; back up from the whistle, grab fingers, stall, stall and stall some more hoping to somehow get to ride outs for a cheap win. Kudos to our guys for fighting through that.

Folkstyle needs to adopt the freestyle stalling/passive rules, this is terrible
There are aspects of this that arent much better than WWE. Most of these refs are trash. How they watch a guy do nothing for 3 periods and not call stalling is beyond me. Then the moronic decisions on the reviews is mind numbing. They are either incompetent or corrupt.
There needs to a major overhaul, but sadly the NCAA wont care.
They can stop this by calling stall call and DQ wrestlers. They have to start taking shots and opening them selves up, the Cody Merrell of the world will fall by the waste side.
