Tonight could have been MUCH worse. Phils' pitching gave up 12 hits and 10 walks. Yeah, 10 walks. And for good measure, there were two HBP. But the Cubs were only 2-14 with RISP and had 17 LOB. The LOB number is crazy. That's averaging two guys left on base every inning. Luckily the Cubs didn't hang 15 on them.

The Phillies are officially cooked. Are they capable of winning 20 more games? Maybe not. Horrible and the team needs to be gutted.

Watching baseball doesn’t seem to be worth the angst you go through every season. Relax. It’s just a sport.

The Phils are a LIV golf version an MLB team.
Now that so many of them can sit back and count their cash, they have lost their competitive edge :cautious:.
They have won the division twice since most of them got big contracts so I doubt it has anything to do with losing competitive edge. They started off the season in a slump. It doesn't mean that they will end up being as good as last season, but it probably doesn't mean they suddenly fell off a cliff either.

This team is just tough to watch right now. Built poorly, can't manufacture runs and rely on the long ball way too much to score. Been proven over and over that good pitching beats good hitting most of the time. Right now the Phillies have neither.

Good game today. No spoilers. I’ve been dusting and sweeping the bedroom while watching the game, retirement can be fun.

The Phillies have the highest BABIP against, which would lead you to believe that the pitching staff is giving up a lot of hard contact. In reality it’s the contrary- the pitching staff is giving up the lowest average exit velocity.

Seems like they’re snakebitten AND playing with poor defensive structure, since they “shade” less than all other teams.

The lineup is still an issue. Even if Turner heats up, the lack of a cleanup hitter won’t go away.

But for those looking for a shred of positivity, it’s fair to say that the bad luck will subside eventually.

Didn't know where else to put this. I've heard an expression that goes something like, watch enough baseball and you'll see something you've never seen before each day.
