Itās really not lmao. It was expected.
I expect to lose a recruit every now and then -too many variables in play. I just want to win more than we lose...
I could be wrong, but it seems to me that we are recruiting a higher caliber of player -lots of 4 stars being offered (and hopefully accepting). Perhaps this is what we've always done in the past, but it seems like the recruiting targets / expectations have taken a bump up. Thoughts?
Now that he isnāt a Hawkeye, Iāll be critical of Rice - his game is swell but he isnāt 6ā8ā. He has one of those long neck bodies (see Duke coach Jon Scheyer, who is only 5ā4ā without his 11 inch neck) which lets him measure to 6ā8ā with only a 6ā4ā body.
Fran offered a lot of 4 star guys, even got some to visit, hardly ever closed on them. Need McCollum to close on some guys and a point guard would be a nice change for the Hawks.
And Fran seemed to offer guys early, who would then blow up in summer AAU.
One example: Fran offered TJ Power; he visited, etc. Iowa was a finalist. Then Duke came in with an offer and he went to Duke. This year? TJ will be playing at Penn for Fran.
I would not be surprised if Penn wins the Ivy League Tournament & makes the Big Dance.

My thoughts are with curtisj tonight, as he is undoubtedly struggling to cope with the news of Iowa missing out on a white basketball player.
When he watched BMc's summer team workouts and realized he'd have to play defense he committed to Nebraska.
Harris taking his official to Iowa, starting tomorrow. With offers from Gonzaga, Oregon State and Washington - all close to home, does Bmc and Iowa have a shot at this young man?

Absolutely, his recruitment goes back to Macās time at Drake. He has an outstanding relationship with our staff. If the PNW teams are aggressive with him, it for sure will complicate things. But I like our chances!
Fran always offered good players and had a lot of them visit. Getting them to commit was another thing.

Fran average at best coach with a personality of one that has a migraine headache along with his hemroids flaring up at the same time.
6ft8, 180 lbs. Hard to believe but Rice is even more of a living skeleton than Pryce Sandfort 6ft7, 190 lbs. when Iowa offered.

Pryce did play very well the 2nd half of this season so he filled out nicely in year 2. Tougher rebounder than he looked and finished some drives at the rim

It would be great if he came in and just took over for Stirtz. I see some similarities in their games.

Yep, he loved his visit! Sounds like time spent Trey Thompson and the rest of the guys was key. Ethan loves Bryston and MacSpeaking of Ethan Harris, Iowa is considered a top contender for him.

I see Hawks didn't make Diane's top 12. List makes the who's - who's of $$$$ deals. I knew we had a 0.001% chance to get him.
I think our offer to him simply checked a box. Idk how much effort we put in or serious interest we had.
