6ft8, 180 lbs. Hard to believe but Rice is even more of a living skeleton than Pryce Sandfort 6ft7, 190 lbs. when Iowa offered.

…..which begs the question: do they have grocery stores in Waukee, Iowa?
2 Fareways but only a Hy-Vee on Sundays.(I know this wasn't an actual question but I'm bored in the allergy clinic waiting room so may as well answer)

Is there any more interest from Iowa in Will Gerdes? I think Fran offered but have not heard what Ben thinks.

I don't believe Ben is pursuing Gerdes. No inside info, just what I read somewhere (and I actually don't remember where). Take it FWIW.
William Gerdes has committed to UNI. It's pretty clear BMC backed off, I'm not sure about NE but he did have an offer from NE at one point. Pretty good get for UNI at that mid-major level.

He just seemed like typical Fran recruit. Wing player not physically imposing who probably was good offensive player but most likely below avg defender. Good for uni I always like to see them and drake do well in b-ball.

The new owner of the Lakers, a cedar rapids native who graduated from cr Jefferson, and is worth around 20 billion, attended Creighton
Maybe he chipped in.
He went to Northwester Law School as did his wife so between Creighton and Northwestern, I wonder how much they have given to both schools in NIL.

TT, your guesses are better than ours. Coleman would be a great start. Any word when he might visit.
IDK about that, haha! I know he's supposed to be at Wake first (today I believe) then we have Hartman coming in September 12th or 13th and Kaiden Bailey around that time too. Reading the tea leaves, I believe Coleman is our top target at this point, so my uneducated guess would be either a visit next weekend, or September 5th/6th visit.

Ethan Harris visits Gonzaga Aug 29th, so it would pretty cool to get a commit from him after that date too (though I think he's still planning on visiting Washington, too).

How are we doing competing when it comes to compensating incoming high school players? Is Ben able to offer a good, competitive package when it comes to revenue sharing + NIL opportunities?

Ben would rather provide more compensation for the proven players, right?

From what I understand, Ben wants to pay to RETAIN vs RECRUIT (portal guys for example.). He'd rather recruit HS kids and pay to retain then with NIL down the road. He has mentioned (and it's been proven through practice) that he won't over pay for guys. Ben recently stated that guys will come with a certain monetary value. He will then look at what they can do for the team, their fit, and their ultimate value based on what they can provide. He said "In our eyes, those initial values drop quickly."

So in summation, he has money and isn't afraid to spend it, provided the player's actual value (in his eyes) matches their asking price. If that makes sense lol. We'll likely lose guys (Harmon) because of it, but one thing is for sure...under Mac, we'll always have a the right culture fit, and his guys love him. Some guys may take a bit longer to develop, but he'll get them there. Nothing super ground breaking, but that's my read.

Why do we keep losing to them? I don’t get it. Everybody brags about them, but I don’t see it…
Creighton doesn't have football to share revenue with and has the $$$ to hand out to players looking for that. The previous post I thought summed things up well. Ben will win with players who buy into the culture and get rewarded later financially when they stick and develop under this coaching staff.

We live in an instant gratification society. That applies to both fans and players. Ben will approach high level college basketball his own way. Those of us who embrace it I think will find it most rewarding.

it will be interesting to see how many high school kids he gets vs the number he gets out of the portal

Glad to hear he paying on value rather than potential. If you're going to pay someone $500,000 to sit on the bench then what's the incentive to get off the bench. it also works better for having portal money.

Quentin Coleman, Top 80 recruit. Will be hard to get him out of Illinois. Not to mention he has Texas Tech and A&M in his final six, both have deep pockets. Haven't seen any visit dates set.

He’s from St Louis not Illinois and he’s got a history with this staff. Probably Iowa’s to lose. He already has a visit scheduled with Iowa.

3-Star Guard Eli Sancomb (from West Virginia) will take an official visit to Iowa City next month. IOWA is his only current high-major offer.

Doesn’t have an offer yet, it I’d guess he gets one on his visit.

Iowa is in the top 4 for Camas (Washington state) 3-star (per Rivals) forward Ethan Harris, who took an official visit to Iowa City this summer.

Given that he is from the state of Washington I would guess that Gonzaga or Washington will land him. Even Boise State is not that far away. Iowa seems like the outlier here just based on geography. I wonder what his timeline is for making final decision?
