Isn't Marist playing King week 2? Would Marist and Rita still have opening for week 1 - if so then it’s insane if they don't play each other. Its a good matchp
I assumed last year was a two year agreement with them playing each other. Why do you think they aren’t?

I'm pretty sure JCA still does not have a week 1 or 2 opponent.

I was told only needing 3 wins and possibly 2 would make scheduling easier. Seems as though people are still looking for guaranteed wins.

The Hilltoppers already have enough guaranteed losses next year, need to find a couple of winnable games.
They definitely have another tough slate. And a very young team. And PC week 3. So weeks 1 and 2 would be nice to get a win or two.

When the playoff threshold was 5, I was in favor of two tomato cans as week 1 and 2 opponents. Now that the threshold is likely 2 wins to reach the playoffs, I would be in favor of one tomato can opponent and one capable, though not too rugged of an opponent.

Rita is likely too tough for such a young team. That said, now that the playoff cutline is relaxed, I think we can schedule a decently capable opponent for one of the two openings. Still want to see one cupcake though. Easier said than done.

Or it's mid January and sports like basketball and wrestling are in full swing. The football schedule may not be a top priority for ADs at this moment.

I wholeheartedly agree with this sentiment.

Yes, I think needing 2-3 wins instead of 4-5 offers more wiggle room. In last year's system, a young JC scheduling Rita week 2 with their already difficult slate should be a hard no. This year, with the new system, a young JC would prefer not to play Rita. But as long as the other noncon game isn't ridiculous, it's at least a possibility to consider.

Plus, from people with good knowledge of the scheduling issues of the past, it seems we are well ahead of schedule...pun intended.

Even with the 2-3 wins getting you a playoff spot, teams still want to schedule games they believe they "could" win.

Schedules for winter and Spring are basically done. Ads are now working more on Fall.

I'm not talking about scheduling for those sports. ADs typically need to be in attendance at most of these events or games and have other things on their agenda other than the football schedule. As has been pointed out there's less openings at this point in the year versus previous years.

JCA could use a QB from the portal. I think they only have two Frosh at the position currently in the program for next year.

Will be interesting to see which ccl schools end up playing other ccl’s week 1 and 2. Per the sun times recent article on Marist, their coach thinks that even with the new relaxed format the ccl school are still seeing some boycott from the public’s. If so, I would think it would be more evident with the smaller ccl’s. Anyone know how SF, Montini and IC are doing for weeks 1 and 2?

SF still open from what I know.
Last year they had Kenwood and some school in Maryland. Looks like Kenwood is out and flying to Maryland is not sustainable. Maybe the could get Fenwick and IC if available. I doubt there is a 3 or 4A team that would play IC, and they are good, but not that good

I have the full MSL schedule for next season. Prospect plays Rochester week 2
That seems strange. Batavia has Rochester listed on their football website and their Snap (il8to18) site for Week 2, while Prospect has St. Laurence listed as their opponent on their Hudl page. Just check this morning on both.

Batavia and Rochester have a 2-year Week 2 agreement beginning in '26. At Rochester this year and at Batavia in '27.

St. Francis hosting CPS Clemente High School week 2.
All.... Grab what one can grab. It's slim pickens out their now unless one wants a Catholic vs Catholic bout for many. Fwiw Massey has if the two would of played in 2025 St Francis 52 Clemente 0. (100%) Ratsy

Smart move!
I know they want to make sure they have 4 home games this year since they only had 3 last year. They did choose to play in ESL Classic and that cost them a home game. I haven't found a Wheaton Academy schedule online but that would be a nice neighborhood game. They had scrimmaged in week 0 the past two years and WA has played Provi in non-con so they are certainly not affraid of playing CCL teams.

SF has had brutal schedules the last few years. The Spartans deserve this.

All.... This is interesting. Just popped up on the Ihsa open dates list. Chicago Jones is looking for non con games . (8/21, 8/28, 9/4, 10/17 all away) This will be the first year of tackle football for the Eagles. At the moment a one year deal. "Could be open to an away-home situation but dependent on us being able to secure a stadium in year two." It shows before being multiplied an enrollment of 1900. An entire season basically on the road one would think will be challenging . I don't have their conference schedule on who they play but those four non cons unless they find other CPL teams needing games could be rough ones. Lots of now hungry AD's scrambling for games. One would assume a school that large has athletes and hopefully many have past experience in JFL action. I know on the girls side they have flag football but not showing anything like that for the boys. Ratsy

All.... Well that was quick. Five minutes later I went back to the Ihsa open dates list and the posting is now gone. Either they filled the four games or the ceiling caved in.... Ratsy

Ridgewood's Snap site says they are playing Jones Week 1. All the dates are the pre-shift dates but the weeks correspond to the other teams' schedules I can find.
