Isn't Marist playing King week 2? Would Marist and Rita still have opening for week 1 - if so then it’s insane if they don't play each other. Its a good matchp
I assumed last year was a two year agreement with them playing each other. Why do you think they aren’t?

I was told only needing 3 wins and possibly 2 would make scheduling easier. Seems as though people are still looking for guaranteed wins.

The Hilltoppers already have enough guaranteed losses next year, need to find a couple of winnable games.
They definitely have another tough slate. And a very young team. And PC week 3. So weeks 1 and 2 would be nice to get a win or two.

When the playoff threshold was 5, I was in favor of two tomato cans as week 1 and 2 opponents. Now that the threshold is likely 2 wins to reach the playoffs, I would be in favor of one tomato can opponent and one capable, though not too rugged of an opponent.

Rita is likely too tough for such a young team. That said, now that the playoff cutline is relaxed, I think we can schedule a decently capable opponent for one of the two openings. Still want to see one cupcake though. Easier said than done.

Or it's mid January and sports like basketball and wrestling are in full swing. The football schedule may not be a top priority for ADs at this moment.

I wholeheartedly agree with this sentiment.

Yes, I think needing 2-3 wins instead of 4-5 offers more wiggle room. In last year's system, a young JC scheduling Rita week 2 with their already difficult slate should be a hard no. This year, with the new system, a young JC would prefer not to play Rita. But as long as the other noncon game isn't ridiculous, it's at least a possibility to consider.

Plus, from people with good knowledge of the scheduling issues of the past, it seems we are well ahead of schedule...pun intended.

Even with the 2-3 wins getting you a playoff spot, teams still want to schedule games they believe they "could" win.

Schedules for winter and Spring are basically done. Ads are now working more on Fall.

I'm not talking about scheduling for those sports. ADs typically need to be in attendance at most of these events or games and have other things on their agenda other than the football schedule. As has been pointed out there's less openings at this point in the year versus previous years.

JCA could use a QB from the portal. I think they only have two Frosh at the position currently in the program for next year.

Will be interesting to see which ccl schools end up playing other ccl’s week 1 and 2. Per the sun times recent article on Marist, their coach thinks that even with the new relaxed format the ccl school are still seeing some boycott from the public’s. If so, I would think it would be more evident with the smaller ccl’s. Anyone know how SF, Montini and IC are doing for weeks 1 and 2?
