I’m not 100% sure we will be much of a player in the portal this year, but will try to track any moves with even potential UNC implications here

There has been a significant change to the portal this season:
  • 2026 Window (This Year): April 6 – April 20 (15 days), opening the day after the national championship game.
  • 2025 Window (Last Year): Began March 24th/25th (during the tournament) and lasted 30 days.
  • Key Shift: Players can no longer enter the portal while their team is playing in March Madness.
  • Coaching Changes: Following a head coach departure, players have a specific 15-day window, opening five days after a new hire is announced, or 31 days after the old coach leaves.

However, players will start announcing their intentions once their teams conclude their season, before the portal officially opens, to signal their openness for back channel communications through agents.

I have no inside information of any kind, but just based on the way so many players enter the portal. I’d be shocked if we didn’t lose anybody.

He left out TQ. A simple mistake. Thanks for mentioning her. That means we have 14 on the roster for next year before the portal opens.

I would imagine UNC grandfathered in Barker when the roster limits were set last year. Schools were given the option to grandfather anyone that could lose a scholarship due to the new NCAA limits. Once a person is grandfathered they don't count on roster limits at whatever school they attend. Meaning if Barker was grandfathered she wouldn't count against UNC next year or hypothetically if she transferred she wouldn't count against her next school.

I think we will lose two players. I think we need a seasoned big and a replacement for N Harris.

We for sure need a replacement for Nyla H.

This team is very close and the University is a great school so I know it would be hard to leave but in portal season anything is possible I guess.

I am hoping all stay and we get one portal player that can play like Nyla Harris and takes that last 15th
scholarship/NIL.

I have said before that if we have the money and the space we should take the “best available“ star from the portal for whomever wants to come to UNC. Regardless of position.

but I actually do not think we necessarily need a 4. Between Toomey, Queiroz and Henderson we could have that covered pretty well given expected growth curves. I think Henderson in particular has significant upside and I hope we present her with the retention money and an achievable path to playing time required to get her to stay.

I hope we definitely work hard to keep Taliyah. To my eyes she can do a lot of Nivar type things for this team
with her great athleticism and speed (track star). Plus she is 6'1. She IMO should be a core part of this team going forward.

I think we look hard for a 5. We are good at every position but we need a quality replacement for Nyla Harris who has been a wonderful addition to this team.

I am hoping Noelle Bofia is going to be a great player but she is just a redshirt freshman after getting here
2nd semester. I guess how she is doing in practice is for now a team secret.

I’m starting to feel like we aren’t going to lose anyone. If we do, I think it may be one or two players averaging under 2-3 mpg.

I think you go for a senior 4 in the portal cause that spot has the most question marks for guaranteed production. OR if you can get a younger phenom, then you have to be OK with losing someone. I think Brooks and Hull will be able to tackle the 3 for Nivar.

I agree with everything everyone has stated. I do agree with 3397char to take the best player available in the portal that is a 5 or a very strong 4 like NH this year.

Tenn loses their top recruit from last season. (although fellow freshman Mia Pauldo had a bigger impact this season)

Deniyah Prawl was #12 overall last season and 6-1 wing.

FWIW UNC currently follows her Instagamm but her other final 2 in HS recruiting were ND and Baylor

I can see the Jones young lady going to Maryland. She is from the area. Very interesting on the Tennessee young lady.

Kamryn Kitchens was the #57 prospect in the 2025 class but reclassified to 2024. From Charlotte (Independence HS). Went to UVA for one year but redshirted and never played, Then Arizona one year, where she was a rotational player most of the year, started some in Feb, then has not played in a month or so., not sure why she missed the last 4-5 games of the year. Back on the market.

We never offered, prioritizing Lanie Grant. Louisville and VT were also finalists in HS. Some here were frustrated with us not pursuing a top instate player, while others mentioned rumors of chemistry-type concerns.

It will be interesting to see what offers she gets after an up-and-down season at AZ.

6th player from Arizona to enter the portal 😁

6-3 PF/C Mallory Collier of NCSU has entered the portal with one year eligibility.

She only played in half their games averaging 7 MPG, so not a major loss.

6-5 C Lorena Awou had already entered the portal as well mid-season, transferred to Baylor.

NCSU has #98 6-3 F Annsley Trivette coming in, she appears to be more of a project. State should return C Trygger, PF Pierre and PF Cox so no big deficit here as of yet, but will likely find a back-up C in the portal.

NCSU starting guard Zam Jones joins Collier in the portal. 15 PPG, 3.0 APG, 3.3 RPG, 37% from 3 lead the team

Zam Jones is also a local young lady. I wondered if she wants to stay close to home. If so, we may have a shot. Duke has a ton of PG's.

i know I started this thread as a tracker of people we might pursue, but it has morphed into me posting just about anyone that I thought was interesting that they entered the portal. I will try to make clear when I see someone we have recruited in the past or has shown current interest, but I think it is also fun to track what is occurring to our peers, especially rivals. Lemme know if you disagree.

I definitely will update the original post for people UNC is pursuing, whenever we get wind of it, plus any changes to our team.

iSU PF Addy Brown will likely be ranked top 20 in the portal class

ISU seems to be in full rebuild mode at this point:

Addy Brown – Iowa State junior Addy Brown announces that she’s entering the transfer portal. Brown was a star in Ames, averaging 13.6 points, 8.1 rebounds and 5.2 assists per game over her career. The do-it-all forward has one year of eligibility left

Freya Jensen – Iowa State’s Freya Jensen plans to enter the transfer portal, per On3. The 5-10 freshman averaged 1.6 ppg this season. She will have four years of eligibility remaining.

Reagan Wilson – Iowa State sophomore guard Reagan Wilson is entering the transfer portal, per On3Sports. Wilson averaged 2.5 points per game in 2025-26 and shot 40.5% from three. She has two years of eligibility remaining.

Reece Beaty – Iowa State freshman guard Reece Beaty is reportedly going to enter the transfer portal, per On3Sports. Beaty averaged 4.6 points, 3.3 assists and 2.6 rebounds per game in her lone season in Ames. Beaty has three seasons of eligibility remaining.

Lilly Taulelei – Iowa State junior forward Lilly Taulelei plans to enter the transfer portal, per On3Sports. Taulelei played 5.6 minutes in 21 games this season.

Aili Tanke – Iowa State guard Aili Tanke is hitting the transfer portal, per The Des Moines Register. Tanke, a former star at Johnston, played 44 games the last two seasons including six starts.

And you can now add a 7th player:
Jada Williams - The Star 5-8 junior PG averaged 15.3 ppg, 3.5 rpg and 7.7 apg this season.

Edit: add a 9th player:

6-2 junior Alisa Williams averaged 4.8 ppg and 3.3 rpg this season.

They have one other key player who is graduating, so they lose 10 of 13 total players on the current team as of now.

And their best player, 2nd team A-A Audi Crooks was non-committal when asked by USA Today if she was returning:

Losing the only reliable rebounder and post presence, and you think we don’t need a replacement for her at the 4? You think CT is going to magically become physical, or Blanca will magically ascend to that spot?
Not likely, CB needs to get the best 4 as well as the best wing athlete she can find this cycle!

I think Toomey, Thomas, Henderson, Quieroz, and and Bofia are all players with significantly higher ceiling that what we see right now. Will they all grow? Likely not. But with 5 potentialities I like our chances.

Henderson, as an example, is very reminiscent of Destiny Adams in body type, playing style, and her freshman season performance. By her soph year, Adams was a significant contributor. By her junior year (at Rutgers), she performed at an all-conference level.

I am by no means saying we should not pursue a star player at the 4 or 5. We definitely should if one we can afford wants to come to UNC. But this is not a position of need where you take an above average player and probably run off one or more of the people I listed above. We already have above average.

UNC lead the ACC reg season in rebounding margin at +7.3. Yes, Nyla Harris had a lot to do with that. but at 6.9 RPG (13th in the ACC) she did not particularly stand out. Toomey was not far behind at 6.2 RPG. Part of the reason that neither stood out is that they both only played 23 minutes per game, not a high number for starting bigs. We substitute a lot.

Scoring is a similar story. While Harris lead the team at 11.5 PPG, that is the lowest total for the leading scorer for any team in the ACC. She was approximately 30th in the conference in scoring. (the stats only go down to 25th). UNC produced offense by having 6 players averaging at least 8 points per game, the most in the ACC. Toomey average 8.9 PPG, Again, low minutes played per game affected both of them. UNC and Louisville were the only ACC teams with no player averaging 30 min or more per game.

Neither was a star, but the team as a whole is good at rebounding. I do not see a deficit here as is, and you should assume improvement from one year to the next as players grow. Toomey is tons better now than her freshman year.

So I will stick to my guns: \UNC should take the best available 2, 3, 4, or 5 that wants to come to UNC. They need to be a star player. A 5 or 4 would be ideal, but if a p4 1st team all conference shooting guard is for some reason set on UNC, you take her, even if it is the last scholarship we have to give.

I do not think we will have the money for both a star wing and a star big. Player retention costs will be large. I am sure Harpring took a sizeable portion of our budget. Last year we apparently only had the money for Harris and (affordable at the time) Aarnisalo. I do think we have the money for one star player. We had enough to pursue Bjorn this fall after landing Harpring, so I assume we have some to spend now even after retention deals are signed.

This always comes with the caveat that we will need to replace any current contributing player who decides to enter the portal.

TL;dr:
this team has solid depth at every position. we should focus all resources on adding a star player.. Whatever one we can find, regardless of position.

3397, you make a very good argument but I cannot see us adding to the lineup of Harpring, Grant, Aarnisalo,
and Kelly at guard... Also Nyla Brooks could play the 2 guard.

I also do not think we will bring in a star player in at the 3 as I think we will play 3 guards a lot plus that will be Nyla B's primary position along with some time at the 4.

I think we go after a Nyla Harris type that can play in the low post but hopefully can also run the court.

Toomey, Thomas and Bofia can all play 5 but will any of them do what Nyla Harris did this season? I hope so
but I am not sure even CB knows for sure at this point.

I think barring losing some players we need a low post rebounder/defender who can also score.

I hope we can keep this team core together. TH, NB are both going to be stars. LH is a great shooter and is
getting better every year. Lanie and EA are both great. Toomey if she gets stronger and zero's in her outside
shots has star potential.

My thinking is don't rock the boat, keep it together. Of course if SS wants to come to CH she would be the perfect fit.

What is going on at Iowa State. If A. Crooks would to hit the portal, they would be a good fine at the 4.

Harpring will have a huge impact on this team. She will inject the type of offense and scoring this program has sorely lacked. We need elite talent to form chemistry. Nyla Brooks has to start. Her ceiling is insanely high. She needs to start so she can develop. Also if she doesn't start she's gonna transfer so there's that too.

PG Harpring
G Brooks
G Aarnisalo
G Grant
(insert a top big here from portal)

I like our guards. I think Harpring will elevate them as well. So if UNC is gonna spend money in the portal, makes more sense if it's for a big. I love Toomey but she's a perimeter player. UNC needs someone that can bang in the paint and absorb contact

Kate H, Lanie and Elina Nyla B at the 4 and ??? at the 5.

Ciera can play the 5 fairly well or if she works on her quickness she is more a 4.

Bofia, I am hopeful but she is a true freshman

Thomas Anyone's guess at this point. She definitely has the ideal size.

Taissa Q Yet to be determined. Seems slightly short

Taliyah Henderson I think she is a natural 4 who can also play the 3. She needs to play just not sure if she can play the 5. She is slightly foul prone.

Henderson should be a 3 at this level and a 2-3 at the next level. She is a star in the making but not a big, physical POST. Destiny Adam’s was 6’3 and loved to bang down low; that is quite a difference from 6’1 Henderson. We need a big, physical, athletic post with experience next year, no question. One that can run the floor and switch on guards defensively like Nyla Harris. This should be viewed as a need for this team going into next year by the coaching staff, not a want.
