Yeah, this would be good news. They need some sort of momentum to get recruiting started. Getting a 4 star QB would be a nice start.Well, we’re bound to land somebody at some point. This kid might as well be the first.

Wow, this would be a great pickup. I think he is a top 10 QB in the '27 class.Yeah, this would be good news. They need some sort of momentum to get recruiting started. Getting a 4 star QB would be a nice start.
This kid is from Hingham. I lived in Hingham from age 13 on until leaving for college. I went to a Jesuit prep school in Boston though.![]()

My brother and mother still live there. I will have to ask around on this young man.

Yup, saw that too. Don't think I would have used that word. It's unnecessary and inflammatory. He went to Boise State.STRUGGLING
To be fair, as he noted, PSU is the only team in the B1G without a 2027 commit.Yup, saw that too. Don't think I would have used that word. It's unnecessary and inflammatory. He went to Boise State.
Then just say that, its a fact. Struggling is a conclusion. They might not be struggling at all. They simply might be trying to catch up due to a late start. That's not struggling. Struggling would be a coach at a school for several years and still unable to get recruits. The word is unnecessary and not necessarily true. He needs more facts to conclude that PSU is struggling. To be fair, as he noted, PSU is the only team in the B1G without a 2027 commit.
Again, to be fair, some PSU insiders just said in a podcast that the bottom line is PSU needs to win to get some momentum going for recruiting because right now it isn’t looking too good. I hope that makes a turn for the better after spring visits. Then just say that, its a fact. Struggling is a conclusion. They might not be struggling at all. There are a lot of insiders out there with varying opinions, but I do believe that winning will be important . And if some of the insiders are right, we’re in really good position for several highly talented recruits. In terms of recruiting locally, the coaching change could not have happened at a worse time as Pennsylvania is as loaded as it has been with high school talent in many years. Campbell is highly regarded in coaching circles in the NFL and college, and he’s highly regarded in the Midwest recruiting scene, but he’s just not well known yet with East Coast recruits. It’s going to take time, and hopefully Terry can help bridge some of that unknown of the new staff.Again, to be fair, some PSU insiders just said in a podcast that the bottom line is PSU needs to win to get some momentum going for recruiting because right now it isn’t looking too good. That all makes sense but my point is having zero commits at this point seems strangely weak. No reason to panic....yet. But we better see things pickup by spring and certainly throughout the summer. There are a lot of insiders out there with varying opinions, but I do believe that winning will be important . It is very disconcerting, but not totally unique with the new major coaching changes. Really you’re seeing 0 to 3 new recruits for each of the new coaches of big-time programs around the country. We will be fine, but until that first one we’re all extremely concerned, including myself. That all makes sense but my point is having zero commits at this point seems strangely weak. He holds grudges forever and will be badmouthing us over the next decade.Agree that it is a little concerning that they don’t have a single commit yet, but I think that once they get one, you could see a wave of them coming. Especially if it’s the quarterback. I also know from talking to a few other people that little Jimmy has really been hitting the PA kids hard with some negativity about Penn State and Terry. So it’s gonna take a few wins and more than just one visit or conversation to convince those kids otherwise.
I believe the VaTech is at zero commts as well, so the negativity isn't working so farAgree that it is a little concerning that they don’t have a single commit yet, but I think that once they get one, you could see a wave of them coming. The insiders were from this site. We can frame it however we want, but the bottom line is they have zero recruits, they are way behind and they have ground to make up. This was the trepidation when Campbell got hired and none of the PSU assistants that recruited PA and the DMV stayed. Yes, you are correct, it will take some time, but this industry doesn’t give coaches much time any more. I thought they would get a few recruits after junior day and it never happened. If they don’t get any after spring visits, it may be a big red flag. I’ll be happy to eat crow if they reel in some big fish at some point. There are a lot of insiders out there with varying opinions, but I do believe that winning will be important . That isn’t really a valid argument. The top recruits in PA are going elsewhere, just not VT.I believe the VaTech is at zero commts as well, so the negativity isn't working so far
So sad if true. We don’t know where they’re going yet. These things are so fluid nowadays that you don’t know what you have until signing day. That includes Spell and the other top PA players. That isn’t really a valid argument. The top recruits in PA are going elsewhere, just not VT.
If it makes you feel any better, Michigan has not landed a single recruit since the coaching change and lost most of that class. But to be truthful, on the other side of the equation, LSU and Florida have landed a couple good recruits since their coaching changes. But I agree with you, if there is nothing after spring practice I am with you looking over the ledge! The insiders were from this site. Perhaps they are currently fishing for whales that require big NIL dollars and they will fill out the class with game fish later that don't cost so much? Just casting a line in the dark here.Agree that it is a little concerning that they don’t have a single commit yet, but I think that once they get one, you could see a wave of them coming. Those are projections, not commitments. TBD on how likely they are to commitI just checked 247 and they have the #5 and #6 ranked players in PA ( Stanley Montgomery and Khalil Taylor) committed to Penn State 100%. #8 Gabe Jenkins, we are the favorite.
I guess Montgomery and Taylor have not committed officially? Do we have a verbal from them? They don't officially commit until December, right?
Edit: Not sure what is going on as I now see Taylor decommitted from us in October. I guess 247 still thinks he will go to PSU but how strong or valid a prediction is that?

Yep, a lot will happen between now and then. Campbell’s crew has a lot of work to do to get familiar with the East Coast recruiting scene, but most importantly he has to win this first year. And secondly, he and Pat Kraft have to work to raise more NIL funds. I have read elsewhere on insider forums that we are top 15 or so and are not in the same ballpark as OSU, Miami, Oregon, etc. Our donors just got burned by Franklin pissing NIL dollars away rewarding tenure instead of performance, but importantly, they need to see wins just as much as the recruits need to see wins this year. Thankfully, we have a manageable schedule. We don't know where anybody is going until December.

I thought the Adidas money put us higher than that? When is the Adidas money coming?Yep, a lot will happen between now and then. I don't think there is a transition to Adidas until sometime in the Summer.I thought the Adidas money put us higher than that? When is the Adidas money coming?
I think the Adidas deal switch over happens in July?I thought the Adidas money put us higher than that? When is the Adidas money coming?
I do not think that has any impact on NIL. I believe that revenue is for the school. I think the only impact that deal has is if an athlete gets his own deal with Adidas. Oregon has Phil Knight, Texas Tech has oil money directly supporting their NIL efforts, OSU appears to have more fan support in their NIL efforts, Indiana now has Mark Cuban, and the list goes on. We don’t have that same type of NIL support as those schools. And recent big donations have gone the direction of the stadium rather than NIL. Pat Kraft needs to organize those fundraising efforts. It does not appear he has done so to date. We have been described as upper middle class for NIL. Thank God we have Campbell who is accustomed to dealing with resource deficits. We’re not poor, but we’re likely not going to land 5 star high school recruits or 5 star portal transfers with our resources at present. I hope Campbell builds positive early momentum on the field to help generate those efforts. Not sure our athletic director is up to par, though.I thought the Adidas money put us higher than that? When is the Adidas money coming?
