Tom probably:

Great day for Hawk fans. Good families, tough kids. One thing I took out of it was Israel Borge's statement that his only real workout partner has been his brother who he thanked profusely in his announcement. I imagine that young man is going to jump levels. What I also liked was the level of giddyness to announce...these kids are excited to be Hawks. Also, hat tip to the custodian for once again showing up and playing his role as the "Grown Man" who asked for a pic with Drake Ayala in front of the recruits at the game. Our guy with the jangly keys is on it. Tom needs to give him a little bit extra cash in the envelope.

I’m confused. I follow his page and he’s newish at it but he sure seems like he tries and is cognizant of what he’s doing. What am I missing?
You're not missing anything. He does a great job at highlighting and hyping young wrestlers and giving them a spotlight that most the dipshits in these forums are to lazy to do... he also does a good job of mixing in some of the older wrestlers and keeps the young followers informed on some history and forgotten legends....
remember 80% on the people in here are just part of the cesspool... 10% bring some actual purpose to follow this forum, the other 10% sit back and look for that actual purpose cause mixed in with all the bulkshit, theres some good info that falls in the cracks

Damn! I guess their bros committed too!
See that's how it went down with the brothers. Apparently that's what Melvin Miller was not allowed to do. Family first, Bo, Miller? In a 4 year stretch, Iowa will likely have 6 sets of brothers on roster. Millers, Ayalas, Kennys, Bachmans, Kennedys, Voinovichs, and a bro/sister combo between the M?W teams.

Got to be one of the biggest recruting nights in Hawkeye history!
Agree, but wasn't 1993 like Williams, McGinness, Whitmer, Ironside, Mena....which followed Zadick, Sharrat, McIravy.....

The Lee, Warner, Murin class was good. Cassioppi or no?

So was the Schwab, Zadick. TJ williams ?

and Gilliss, Fullhart, Juergens, Hand was in one of those classes too.

You are a bit off on a bunch of those…

1987 - Brands, Brands, Reiland and Chelsvig

1888 - Zaputil, Steiner, Steiner and Oostendorf

1990 - Sharrat was HS class of 90, he overlapped 2 years with Brands,

1991 - Daryl Weber

1992 - Whitney and Mena were with Mcillravy and 2 X AA Uker

1993 - McGinness, Ironside and Williams

1994 - Fullhart

1995 - Hand and Gillis

1996 - Juergens and Schwab (Williams and Strittmater cam later not in recruiting class)

1997 - Mike Zadick

Top 5 titles for team and individual. I’m not delusional thinking Minnesota can compete with Penn state.

1 of 4 schools with multiple titles this century.
An Olympic Gold, does Iowa have any this century?
3 Hodges

(I use this century cause I was born in 90s)
Now eliminate one wrestler and what do you have for the last 15 years? A big pile of not much. Though I really do like McEnelly. He's special.

I doubt 197, looks like he’s built like the dad. He may be too close in age to go to same school as brother as a heavyweight.

Ahhh - the search for relevancy
I accidentally got on the PSU board, and of coarse all they are saying is they will all be injured and burnt out soon, we only got them because PSU and Taylor didn’t want them, and this should secure 3-5th for us while they are here. Typical.

Take away Lee and you have 0 Hodges and 1 national champ. Plus mad max is beating Angelo this year.

Dude...you haven't won a conference or NCAA title in ALMOST 20 YEARS. You have ONE top FIVE finish in the last 11 years.

And you think you can compete with Penn State? And you come to an Iowa board to talk crap?

Stop. Just stop. I'm embarrassed for you, and I don't even like you.

This is just untrue, lol, even if we're just limiting it to NCAA champs. Matt McDonough, Tony Ramos, Derek St. John, Cory Clark, and Stephen Buchanan all won titles in the last 15 years (and arguably Metcalf and Borschel depending on how you want to classify the 2010 NCAA championships.

Recruiting Year, Weight Class Ranking Per Class

25: DeLuca (1), Ludington (1)
26: Mocco (3)
27: Bachman (1) , Kenny (1), Amato (2) , Youngblut (9) , Borge (2)
28: Bachman (1) Kenny (3), Mocco (2)

This is so great. The numbers simply don't lie. A certain group have been ridiculously negative about recruiting the past few years, without actually looking at the numbers. Other than PSU, there simply hasn't been another DI team recruiting and starting as many top 10 lb4lb guys that Iowa has since Kemerer.

Prior to Kemerer, Iowa believed more in quantity(many guys in the 20's to 50's range) vs. landing a couple top 10's every year. Obviously, the results are showing. Over time, along with some very solid use of the transfer portal, Iowa has done a pretty damn good job bringing in top talent every single year...just on the roster this year alone you have DeLuca, Ayala, Kennedy, Arnold, Ferrari, Ludington and Kueter as top 13 recruits, along with Block being just outside that.

Now, let's add in the transfers. Caliendo has been an incredible, long term transfer. Peterson, Bailey and Williams fill in giant needs with legit AA contenders. Then you add in a 3X DIII Champ. This year's team is stacked with talent and it looks like Iowa has sure done a TON to keep it that way for years to come.

Where are all the constant whiners now???

For one, the guys listed are just recruits at the moment. I certainly hope they all end up at Iowa, but we have seen how that can change, and quickly.

And can it be argued that despite this "recruiting success" that the actual results haven't kept pace? I think it can be. Even if we claim the mythical 2020 team title, over the time frame you mentioned, Iowa has finished 4th or worse (4) more often than 1st or 2nd (3).

In short, it is at best a little early to be spiking the football.
