Rain. And we started playing more smash mouth football. Not exclusively, but enough. Might have been up for the game with a 24 year streak on the line, and playing for Coach Acton who lost his son, obviously a friend of the program...

That was a great game by Bolingbrook. They outplayed and outcoached HF.

HF is vulnerable to a smashmouth running game, and the 'Brook was successful when it did that. Season-saving catch by Tuff Borland, who was Mr. Everything last night.

Curious why HF kept running the ball up the middle, right into Tuff Borland (who may be the best all-around player in the state). HF had success the few times it ran outside and threw the ball to the flats. If HF tries the same running approach against LA (should HF get that far), Loyola will have no trouble shutting down that so-called high-powered offense.

Bolingbrook needs to stick with that smashmouth identity. Why it got away from that and tried to throw in the 3rd quarter was a mystery. The game turned back around once the Raiders went back to the power running game.

Honestly, the game may very well have turned on special teams. The "bad" punt by Bolingbrook was a pop-up about 20 yards that hit an HF player whose back was turned as he was running down the field to set up to block for the return. Bolingbrook recovered the ball. Otherwise, HF would have had the ball near midfield. The other Bolingbrook punts were great and consistently pinned HF deep. HF's special teams were nothing special, other than the PAT blocks.
