I'll be happy to eat crow on this. I thought that winning two out of three against Georgia would do it.

Rankings are nice, but I'm more interested to see how we handle this newfound success against a slew of quality teams.

The SEC is definitely first, C-USA and ACC are definitely 2nd and 3rd - an argument can be made for either.

C-USA has six Top 50 teams. USM's RPI is 6th and they are 2-1 in league play (against a ranked Tulane team)

For comparison's sake, the SEC has 10 Top 50 teams and the ACC has seven.

has a pretty good team. Whether or not they're the 22 best team, I don't know. However, they've done pretty well this season.

but it's definitlely in the top 4 or 5. Currently Boyd ranks CUSA as the #5 conference and RPI ranks them #3. So yeah, it's a very legitimate conference and has been for a long time.

we took a series from a higher ranked opponent than both of them... just saying since the writer points out what vaulted those 2 into the top 25..

it means we are 4-2 in the SEC right now. We better finish in the top 8 of the SEC....that's my measuring stick for success this year.

are a complete waste of time and energy. They aren't needed. The BCS should have their own system, %++% rankings done by biased coaches and overweight sports writers.

I was at the Friday and Saturday MSU-Auburn games and the Sunday USM-Tulane game and have seen USM play about 10 times this year already. While it hurts to say this, they are better than us and Auburn right now. They are solid 1-9 hitting and have several on the bench that can fill in. Vollmuth and Doleac are crushing the ball and they got a CG shutout from Geoffrey Thomas yesterday to go with Todd McInnis. USM is legit. They are SUPER aggressive on the basepaths. And much more steady defensively than we are. Depending on pitching Wed night, I wouldn't be surprised to see them take Ole Miss to the woodshed.
