24 runs with 2 outs on the weekend. That's unbelievable.

The best part of the whole thing is knowing that evidently Cohen's teaching at the plate is starting to show. I especially like knowing that we're seeing these results after a full week off last week. I think that's the difference. Time was clearly spent on adjusting our approach and building confidence. Because let's face it, confidence at the plate after those first 2 games against Vandy had to be getting short. I've already said it and now with Routt on board, this team's got my confidence finally. Now it's gonna be interesting to see if we break into the polls. I'm gonna go out and say yes. We should come in at 24 or 25 in at least one poll.

I have never seen a group of fans that are so up and down on a baseball team in my life.

About going scoreless for 18 innings of baseball after not exactly playing great ball in games before that. I wasCLEARLY the only person being critical of Cohen seeing such things happen in year 3. And I really love these people who pretend they SAW this coming. I didn't. I admit I didn't. I saw potential in the recruits we signed and felt that we had some quality arms but was highly disappointed in the way we were swinging the sticks. I'm happy to admit that I should have been more patient. But for anyone else to act like they saw this coming is laughable.

everyone that believed in Cohen did. The guy is a winner. He has been everywhere he's been. He's known as one of the best hitting coaches in college. He also is a top notch recruiter. We knew it was only a matter of time before he built the talent level back up. He's only had two recruiting classes. I just don't think some of y'all realize what shape our program is in.

I'm not saying I saw it coming, hell. Still don't know how it will end. My only point is baseball is a long season, and to pretty much say we were done after game 2 of the vandy series, the #1 team in the country, is stupid as ****. And a lot of the same people that were freaking out then will be freaking out again next time we lose a series

Frustration sets ineven when it isn't totally justified and I'd venture to say it's easier to get frustrated in baseball simply because of the nature of the sport.Baseball's just easy for me to get frustrated with because it's my favorite sport and has always been the one thing we have usually been able to hang our hat on consistently. You're right about the long season though. It's all about how you finish. You can go 56-0 in the season and drop out of the first regional and it would all feel worthless. On the flip side, you could do like us in 2007 and have a decent year then go to Omaha and suddenly, it was a great year. Hopefully we can win games and at least put ourselves in position for postseason play starting with Hoover.

You keep talking about what Cohen did wrong on this and that in his first two years. Hell..........he simply didn't have any talent. It really didn't matter what he tried.

People.....accept that Cohen is a pretty good coach....and to hell with the Polk disciples (that was and continues to be a major source of the anti-Cohen group). I wish that bastard would simply disappear...........

I doubt we continue to win 67% of our SEC games this year. It is just that we had so far to go to catch up with the rest of the SEC after Polk' raping of our program. If we win 13-14 SEC games this year Cohen should be coach of the year. But the major thing is that the program is getting better and better but getting better against the best baseball conference is just damn tuff.

I actually feel better today because Daryl Norris stepped up. And not because of Nick Routt- but because of Devin Jones. You don't have to be Lou Piniella to know that three- four innings of quality pitching is better than three - four innings of wild thing. Routt is just going to continue to get stronger and stronger. The coaches are going to be very careful with him- and on top of that we have enough quality people in the bullpen that we can handle six innings if we have to- which we're having to do with Devin anyway.

About people bashing Cohen the past two years- I understand where ya'll were coming from. We were playing bad baseball and we weren't winning. What I think people didn't quite understand was how bad some of those players were- yeah, they could hit a home run here and there, but for them to make up for the rest of their play, they would need to put up Rafael Palmeiro numbers to justify them as being a good player. I think it had been so long since we had SEC caliber players that people forgot what one looked like. Conner Powers was the only clutch player that we had last year.

When Cohen came to MSU, our pitching staff had been gutted and was hurt for the most part on day one. We had a guy named David Hayes that had a fastball that was topping out a 75. 75. In the SEC. You can't get a speeding ticket on I-55 in Madison going 75. And he was no Jon Harden either from a control standpoint. We were a horrible team defensively, we had no range meaning that we couldn't even GET to a lot of balls that we should, we had very little team speed outside of Grant Hogue- God bless him. And then to top it off, they didn't want to play for Cohen and had a piss poor attitude. Joe Torre couldn't have won with them- heck, guess who all was on the ONLY losing team of Ron Polk's entire career? Two of our better position players were walk-ons- Scott DeLoach and Grant Hogue. Let that sink in.

If Cohen keeps winning, the Polk supporters will come around- I think they are, and if they don't, it's their loss. What they don't understand is that for MSU baseball to move forward, we had to get out of that regime entirely. Honestly, if Polk hadn't pitched his fit and gone apeshit, I bet Byrne and Cohen would have been OK with him hanging out with the team and being a volunteer assistant coach- which is what he really wanted in the first place. But he screwed that up. And yes, I know Polk wouldn't like how Cohen did things, but he would just have to get over it- he's not the coach anymore, and Cohen is going to do things his way no matter what. I know that Polk told Cohen to not take the MSU job. We see what happened there.

Obviously, I don't know what's going to happen the rest of this year. What I do know is that the team that we have now- while the seniors are not the most talented players in the world, they play hard, they don't make too many mistakes, and they're scrappy. I'm certainly OK with that. I also can tell that these players like each other, they are having a lot of fun playing baseball, and they're listening to the coaches. What is exciting is the young talent- what are CT Bradford and Daryl Norris going to be like as juniors? What I think is going to happen is we're going to end up having a pretty darn good year. And when we start winning, it's going to help our recruiting that much more.

And I will say right now we have some confident players and coaches right now. I do think we will get better not only this year but in the future as well. Polk left our program in shambles. I was once a sheep loving Ron Polk fan but after his emotional break-down of ripping our AD and pretty much our fan base I hate that his name is still on the CF wall. But now, I have moved on as for as Ron Polk (but never to forget what he did) and I hope everyone else will as well because the shoe is on John Cohen's foot and as of today we are moving in the right direction but still need another good class or two to really get where we need to be. I think we will have some bumps in the road this year with a young developing team, young players can lose there focus on the big picture as Cohen has said we still have a ways to go to get where we need to be.
I've been following Msu baseball for a long time and the last several years have been rough and very disappointing, but now I see a new young improving program slowly but surely coming around again.

to just slow down and support this team and coach and see what happens. After a loss or two everyone freaks out. After a few wins, we've "turned the corner." There's gonna be some losses this year. Just expect that. But if we can keep our heads right and keep this approach at the plate, we will be ok. I'm getting more and more optimistic but I'm trying not to get too excited too early. A lot can happen from here out. We have a lot of tough baseball left to play. I think we're finally seeing what Cohen is trying to create at MSU. I never lost faith in Cohen. The man knows what he's doing. Once he has a team full of his players onlyand is allowed to recruit while we are having success, the sky is the limit. I expect great things from this program in the future. I'm also glad that Cohen is our coach instead of Manieri. We might be in a better position if we had hired him but I think we'll be better in the long run with Cohen. He's one of the most aggressive, hardest working coaches there is. If they continue to ease Routt into it, he will be huge for our staff at the end of the year. Having him 100% if we make it to Hoover will be huge, and even bigger if we make a regional. This team should improve all year long. But only time will tell.
