You bought it not me. I saw them struggle with 1AA teams and it was obvious they were not winning chit.

4000 players in the portal. They dont have to recruit all ISU players. ISU backups are not taking down OSU.

PS. ARent you shifting gears from a Natty expectations to 8-4 ceiling?
I never bought it, or even implied that I did. So I have no gears to shift. I think I’ll stop engaging with you because you’re like an illogical weathervane with your constantly changing but never on point posts.

Exactly, these sports are for special needs students, mostly ones who will not ever graduate but rather age out at 21. Brady was probably a peer helper/partner for one of the kids. I would think very highly of someone with that on their resume
Very cool. My sons have had great experiences with their gym teachers - both in “regular” school and in my older boy’s special needs only school. Not only the teachers but the “best buddies” from UT or local high schools that help out.

PSU is in a position where they must bring in two high priced DTs. There is just not enough experience at that position, other than Blanding now that Gilliam has left. Perhaps True Freshman Adirika will stay and make progress toward the two deep or Liam Andrews or Cook make a leap behind portal DTs? This is a critical position.

Looks like not much movement today versus the insanity of Saturday and Sunday! After importing a huge chunk of the ISU roster, hoping to see us spend serious money for elite talent on the dl (1 DE and 2 DT,) 1 WR, and 1 LB. This insanity will not end until Jan 16.

Whats to rebut? Your take is idiotic. If you do not grasp that this staff's accomplishments in Iowa State over a decade was near miraculous, given resources, location and recruiting challenges, there is nothing more to say than post a laughing emoji.
much like Franklin at Vandy- that kind of "near miraculous"? you are trying to talk yourself into something

Obviously. They lowered their unrealistic expectations.

The coaching is supposedly improved and the problem.players are gone. Shouldn't the team be bette
The team wasn't going to be good in 2026 had Franklin stayed and we won a title this year. 2026 was always a problem on paper.
Campbell's trying to salvage things

Campbell is cherry picking players from the team that he coached. He knows what they are capable of under his system. There is a greater chance at success grabbing players that he is intimately familiar with than grabbing players from other ACC teams / BIG 12 teams with similar success or grabbing players from lower rated conferences with greater statistical success. Obviously, grabbing studs from the BIG or SEC is optimal but you are generally going to have to over pay for these players. Given the across the board needs for PSU, PSU is simply not in a position to overpay for a single stud at this point. Overpaying for a proven stud receiver or a stud linebacker would have been justified last year given the returning talent and high expectations, but not this year.

Hey cherry picking is a work of art --

Saw a report that Penn State has 19 portal transfers so far and all of them are former ISU players. Is this true?

Sort of makes sense. Step 1: Resign the PS players you want and can retain. Step 2: Bring over the players you want from Iowa State. Step 3: Evaluate what you have and find what you need in the portal. Seem to be making progress.

I think it is true. Here is a list that's being maintained by statecollege.com -

It shows 19 of 19 are ISU transfers.

I will feel a little better once we get a few higher profile players from schools other than Iowa St. Right now, my biggest concern about Campbell is how well he can recruit - do both high school kids (which won't really be able to be evaluated until next year's class of recruits) but right now regarding the portal and how well he can draw in players to fill needs.

I'll admit that I'm a little concerned about him being too "comfortable" in just filling up with Iowa St players (and recruits from their 2026 class). A good bit of that is understandable but it should not be the entirety of talent being brought in.

Oh I get it and there are a lot of players that need replacing. I also understand that it’s still early in the portal window but given the amount of NIL money he has to work with I would hope that Campbell can land higher rated players from other schools too.

Is it hard to comprehend that the “low hanging fruit” is getting picked first?? Coach knows and trusts these players from ISU to make an impact at some point!

It looks like PSU will get another 15-20 portal players and I would think most will be from different schools throughout the country!

Some of you people are just hating to hate! Plain and simple

Ummmm......., b1g douche posing-trolls will troll,

Another dumb take, and you wonder why people are laughing at you. 1. No one is talking themselves into anything. I am not in the business of making predictions. 2. Who cares what Franklin did? Campbell was the first coach in the history of Iowa State football to win double digit wins (2024) locating in Ames. Iowa, with no NIL in the NIL era. If another coach has done it there I find no record of it. If you cannot understand what that entails there is no response to you but a smiley face or a laughing emoji because this is what these posts deserve. So, people are reasonably optimistic about what he can do with a more prominent brand, more money, better resources and a better recruiting footprint.

Your straw man argument attributing championship expectations in year one to posters here is nothing more than a strawman argument. Some have more optimism than others given a weak schedule next year, but I have not seen anyone claim a return to national prominence in the imminent future.

So, run along.

Actually it’s more like we don’t have to wait until Campbell coaches an actual game and the new players play any before concluding that everything is peaches and cream for many posters. I genuinely hope that’s true but call me old fashioned but I would like to see it first.
Of course the opposite is true too, we have some who don’t have to wait for him to coach an actual game before concluding everything is terrible.

reality is probably going to be somewhere in the middle- so both sides can get upset, which will be entertaining as hell

“College” Football 😞

Professional Minor-League Football with NFP Universities Franchise Ownership stuctures and names.... (NCAA - which is literally the Universities themselves - a "self regulatory" agency - is petitioning the Federal Government for help with this runaway dumpster-fire).... A National Pro Sports League without an Anti-Trust Exemption from the Federal Government (and multiple Anti-Trust suits already in the Federal Court System).... this runaway freight train is headed for a crash ending.

Or maybe he didn’t have many options, not the world beater some think he is.
The kid is skilled but definitely a tier below the names in the portal which is flooded by almost 40% of existing players. His landing spot is not ideal for his skill set, but at least he likely will be starting for a P4 team.

I'm not saying elite teams were chasing him or throwing money at him but he'd be better off going anywhere that will adapt their offense to fit him
Do you think him running zone read is a good idea?

I have similar concerns. There was a massive void of players that Campbell had to account for and I hope that is why the influx of all ISU guys. I realize many of these guys will be valuable contributors next season. I also realize that Campbell has a reputation of being a good evaluator of talent and doing more with less. I just hope he realizes he doesn’t have to do more with less now. Getting a few quality players from other schools would be the cherry on top to what he and the staff have worked very hard to do in the past week. I hope they can grab the DE from NW. I thought he was a done deal this morning and I’m a little disappointed that wasn’t the case. I’d like to see a few game changing DTs also.

I'm pretty sure Campbell knows what he's doing. The list of non-ISU players is pretty impressive. Since most of them are taking multiple visits, it will take a little longer for them to commit anywhere. Pretty sure we're going to some of them. And I'm certain the visit list will continue to get longer, so, hang in there.
