All good points. And I hope both receivers you indicate end up staying. What will be fascinating as well as that this roster is going from a regionally recruited base to a national base. I wonder if we stay more national in the long run, even after Campbell’s team gets situated in the northeast and mid-Atlantic.
How is it national recruiting? Aren’t many of the players he’s bringing in from Iowa and Nebraska. The Midwest specifically. It’s not national. Franklin recruited more national than this. I’m sure Campbell knows what he is doing, but it could be a thin line to walk. If he runs off guys with local ties from high schools that were friendly pipelines to PSU, how will that sit with the HS coaches? Denmark is a Philly kid. He went to Imhotep Charter and picked PSU over Oregon. Imhotep routinely produces D1 players. This is the type of player that many in here insisted that Franklin had to have when he was recruiting. In state kid, can’t let him go to Oregon. Does Campbell have a recruiting tie there yet? Probably not. If Denmark feels disrespected and still has close ties to the Imhotep coaches, how well received do you think Campbell and Co will be when they come to Imhotep to recruit the next kid PSU wants? This could be a very slippery slope. My other concern is that several of the ISU guys coming over are one yr rentals. So, we get to do this all over again next year.

Absolutely the exact way I feel also. This was the Franklin stench that needed cleaning up. We are in the final stages of cleaning now. My hope is that the rest of the stink leaves by the end of January so we can start this championship culture in the Spring. I think we are at 50 gone now and my guess is we finally finish with a total of 60 Franklin stench ridden guys gone in the end. Don't let the door hit you on your way out.
Good Lord people make stuff up. Our culture was better than all but a handful of teams (by wins/losses) during franklins tenure. He always talked about competing as a core value and how he expected guys to recruit their replacements. This team didn’t quit when they easily could’ve. They went to 2OT with a semifinalist and gave another semifinalist their best game of the year losing in the last play. Plenty of reasons this year fell short and maybe his message got stale. But the soft, stench stuff is nonsense.

Again, when the new coach brings in the whole WR room from his previous school, why are you shocked? If you got a new boss that brought in a whole department of folks from his previous job to do your job, what would you do?

4 three star WR's from a mid Big 12 team (ok, one 4 star) shouldn't pose too much of a threat. Plus, now you sort of made a fool of yourself.

I agree with @NOYDB. It looks as if they are soft.

Does anyone know when this portal bullsh*t is over? Is there an actual date?

The portal window is Jan. 2 to Jan. 16. That's the window to enter the portal. I believe schools have 48 hours to process the portal entry, so it could be through the 18th (in terms of learning of portal entries).

That's just to enter the portal. There is no window/deadline on a player in the portal in terms of when they can sign with another team. Most players want to complete the process before the spring semester starts at their new school, as they also have to meet NCAA education requirements.

There are a couple of exceptions. Teams in the college football players get 5 additional days to enter the portal. I believe (not certain), that played on those teams can enter the portal through Jan. 24.

The other exception is a change of a head coach. Players get a 15-day window, starting 5 days after the hiring of a new coach, to enter the portal.

Ironic.

I’m not one of the ones anonymously trashing kids leaving the program.

LOL... what a f'ing mess this is.

These kids present these nice fancy "I'm staying" announcements then come back a couple days later changing their minds.

It's pathetic. If you are in doubt, shut your hole and make your choice when you are genuinely ready.

It's a **** show.
When multiple.players at their position.portal in that changes things.

The staff have their process of evaluating and coming up with $ values (similar to working with a salary cap), and I get the sense that the way they go about it may rub some of us the wrong way at times.

I believe you may have misinterpreted my post. I take the blame for not elaborating and being too brief.

My point was that Denmark had a change of heart because he is chasing dollars.

Coach Campbell and his staff are acting fiscally responsible which I support.

I’m combining the portal as well in that equation. Lots of kids from the Midwest, Texas, and out west.

He has drawn from Texas and Florida as well as the entire mid-west. As he transitions to the NE he will expand his reach with more money and resources.

No one ran Denmark off. Denmark announced he would stay then reversed his decision and opted to leave. As for HS coaches perhaps they will be more impressed by Pauley sending WR to the league versus the clown show where WR did not catch a single ball in the CFP quarter finals then transfer to ball out in another program.

If you like the previous regime, its easy for you to embrace it. It is intact at VTech

We had plenty of players from TX and FL before Campbell. I happen to think that retaining the majority of the roster as it was should have been priority number one. Kids that played out the season, bowl game, and announced they were staying. Kids that were “loyal to PSU not just Franklin”. Kids that many here raved about, just a week ago. Now, with the influx of ISU guys coming in, they are leaving and the same “fans” are trashing them and calling them soft. What a bunch of hypocrites that reside here.

It gives me a hint of the soft mental state BGJ had many of our players in…

For whatever reason, some of these players would want to leak videos, go back on there word, run from competition etc..

I’m glad many of these players have run off to another place! It just seems there is a silent cancer that needs to biopsied out. Kudos to Campbell for letting them walk.
Next year when the team is 7-5 the 10-2 players won't look so soft.

How mentally tough are all the players who are transferring in? Are they running from.competition?

Ps. How mentally tough were joes players who lost to toledo?

Who's concerned about educational requirements anymore. Classes aren't required anymore.

I could clarify myself as well. I did not necessarily mean to imply you’re in disagreement with Campbell. I can say they are going to do things a bit differently than what we’ve been used to around here and sometimes some of us will be disappointed at certain decisions (including myself). It’s going to be different and hopefully in a way that brings better results on the field.

It doesn't seem that recruiting matters anymore unless you find players that can start as freshman. Seems that if they are using the redshirt year to prepare to portal anyway.
