Don't mean to sidetrack this thread, but I'm a bit excited about our getting this recruit: he's the very first Penn State fiitball player from San Antonio ... at least in my lifetime.

And if anyone knows PSU recruiting and Texas, it would be you. I'm happy for you, and hope he works out well for PSU.

I can tell you that there is some loyalty still: Campbell’s players seem pretty loyal to him…
They are only loyal to Campbell, not Iowa State. They transferred so they are soft.

Sarcasm alert so don’t crucify me and I’m not directing this at you. Just pointing out some irony here.

How worked up some of you are getting about all of this is hilarious. College FB has basically become hired mercenaries each year. It is becoming not if a player will portal, but when and how many times. The days of 3-4 years of a player being loyal are going to become less and less. Won’t happen as much at elite teams but we are still seeing it. FFS no need to get all worked up any longer.

It does not matter to me if it is a transition year. Fans are losing interest.

Even osu fans are losing interest. It is tough for fans to stay loyal when it is nobody on the team is loyal.

I don't want to cheer for iowa state wearing psu jerseys.

Honestly, I couldn't agree more. Like I said in another post, with this "model" there will never be another Kaytron Allen or Nick Singleton. It's discouraging.

If the NCAA wants to do this, have the kids sign contracts like they do in the NFL. I don't see how it is sustainable.

It does seem like we’re throwing around big boy money all of a sudden after the ISU dust settled…

I’d take Sakas on the DL over all of them but that’s just me..
I thought Saka was a sure thing yesterday morning, now I’m thinking no. Too bad. DE depth is thin.

Maybe it's the players that he isn't bringing with him that led to the 4 losses and the players that he is bringing are the ones who got the 8 wins!

Maybe we should just sit back and see what happens instead of criticizing a guy who is trying to make the team better and knows way more about what he is doing than any of us.

They are just chasing the dollars.

Some.of.his best players went to other schools with better offers.

Some that chose psu will be in the portal again next year.

In all fairness to the staff, Martin hasn’t exactly been healthy throughout his first two years here. The Pinstripe Bowl was our first real glimpse at him handling the rock.

I’d think it would be smart of him to stay at least next year and duke it out with Hansen/JP and let the hot hand get the carries. I hope we keep Hayes in the mix as well. Injuries can be a ***** when the big hits an RB room.

He wouldn't be 100% stuck, but its obvious what I meant.

I dont know, maybe its sour grapes, but the OSU people I know weren't too impressed by Peoples.
Peoples was fourth string by the end of the season. He was behind two freshmen and the transfer from WVU Donaldson.

4000+ are in the portal. Penn State did not "lose" players. They left because they have more comfort with the old staff, wanted more money, or they were not valued like they valued themselves. There is nothing "lowly" about the ISU players. All of them ranked in the high 80s and are ball players. They may very well go 8 and 4, which is high for me in year one, but this team will be tough as nails. Penn State has been soft for years and getting softer,

The program needed a hard reset, from the top to the bottom. To fast track the transition bringing in a nucleus of players that now the culture and the system

Education requirements? What’s that!
I believe if you pass 6 online credits a year, you receive a yea $100k nil

This is fair. I hope Martin takes control of the backfield and has a great PSU career.

Ivy league is looking better and better these days. If one prefers college football, that is.
I f the ncaa was smart, they would break into minor league pros and college football. College would start with the Ivy League, but would grow

But how many people watch that
The FCS title game was amazing last night. Me, knicks and PAgeo watched it but how many people here that claim they miss what college football was watched it?

Another Imhotep recruit from Philly.

Isn’t it a tad late for players to be portalling?
A player won’t seem to get their maximum NIL value by jumping ship after so many others have already declared 🤷🏼‍♂️

Is he pulling a Franklin (floating your name for a better gig) If so, someone gave him bad advice.

What if he doesn’t get any better NIL offers than what he had at PSU and Campbell tells him to hit the road at the end of May when his scholarship ends?

We're going to see a lot of kids enter the portal between now and the 16th
We add Peoples--now some of our backs are going to leave. Can't add two backs and think everyone else is going to stay--or maybe even anyone else

Especially when you have no idea what we are offering them to stay - if anything above basic rev-sharing NIL.

Its sad that you actually still believe that. Most journalists are no better than the opinion hosts.
So what specific source of news do you follow that that adheres to rigorous journalistic standards? FYI, hyper-partisan commentary from opinion hosts from either Fox News nor CNN do not adhere to the same standards that the New York Times adheres to and that is an indisputable fact.
