Video of the Burnett match:
interesting sequence.
You can see that Burnett's forearm goes into O'Brien's open mouth. Then, Burnett's forearm moves down so it's his wrist that is in the mouth. Alas, O'Brien's head turns so that you're looking at the top/back of his head when the incident occurred. The ref was in good position to see what happened. I'd concur with what @zzs006 pointed out in an earlier post, that the ref didn't make any signal, and did check out Burnett's arm.
It caused me to realize that I probably gave the indication that the call for flagrant misconduct due to biting should be instantaneous. Thinking back over the years, I think I've only done that one time. Pretty much every other time I'd be in position, and think to myself that it appears the a wrestler is biting their opponent, and then would look at the arm. So my apologies if I gave an inaccurate depiction in my earlier post(s). A ref should check the arm when they think there was biting, to confirm what they think they observed.
O'Brien certainly seemed unaware what the stoppage was for. From the video clip, I can't tell if O'Brien bit Burnett or not. It's tough to accurately convey how much clearer things usually are on the mat, than they are on video.
May have been self serving but Burnett coaches who were looking right at it were yelling he’s biting him before the stoppage.
O'Brien's corner was the one that had a clear view of the bite/cross face. Grey is the one who was yelling about the biting.May have been self serving but Burnett coaches who were looking right at it were yelling he’s biting him before the stoppage.

Grey's corner is far side - you can see his dad at the beginning of the video. It's Grey who yells, "He's biting me!" Your hearing is biased just like your view of the rankingsYou can clearly hear them yelling “he’s biting him”. If Grey was yelling this about himself, his grammar is comparable to your latest rankings or, maybe Grey’s corner was, in fact, yelling about the biting.
JK about the rankings (kinda), I know JD and Pyles are the problem and just want the clicks.
Regardless of if it was a bite? Looking at the picture, he even got Grey with his wisdom teeth!Grey's corner is far side - you can see his dad at the beginning of the video. It's Grey who yells, "He's biting me!" Your hearing is biased just like your view of the rankings
Regardless of if it was a bite or not, it's a shame the match had to end like this. I'm sure it's not the way Grey wanted to win, and it doesn't feel right that O'Brien is dq'd from the tournament either.

Ask Nelson Brands. Is biting only a dq at the high school level and not college?
We know UWW refs don't call it at the Olympics. Is biting only a dq at the high school level and not college?

If asking Nelson you must phrase question as a wager.Ask Nelson Brands.
If Finnegan O'Brien was the PSU commit, people would be condemning him for being dirty as well as stupid for biting when up.
Everyone can get lost, Grey is one of us now.
