I know this might strike a nerve with volunteer umpires. I watched some inconsistent ball / strike calls that really cost team's games.

I'd like to see them use an AI calling system for only balls & strikes. You're still going to need an umpire behind the plate. It would take the pressure off a guy that's not use to making calls in front of 10,000+ people. Just my 2 cents

I don't like the "modified" double elimination format at all
It is what it is. LL is very smart. Smart enough that we may see 2 first bases in MLB in a few years. No one ever claimed this format is perfectly equitable, but find me a better one w/ the current # of teams, and the restrictions of scheduling USA vs. World, not to mention espn.

With the growth abroad, and even still here - despite travel teams, they'll expand again when the time is right, and hopefully aim for a more symmetrical outcome to the World Series.

Competition in Day 11, the final day of the LLWS, is completed.

In the LLWS Baseball Consolation Third Place game:

G1: Metro Region (Connecticut) - 4, Caribbean - 2

In the LLWS Baseball Championship game:

G2: Asia-Pacific (Taiwan) - 7, Mountain Region (Nevada) - 0

I didn't see the 3rd place game, so I can't speak about it.

In the Championship game, Asia-Pacific showed the benefit of coming through the Winner's Bracket. Their three most recent games were Monday, Wednesday, and lastly Saturday. They were able to have their ace pitcher available for them. Nevada lost in the U.S. Winner's Bracket final, and thus had to play in the Elimination Bracket final to get to the U.S. Championship. So their three most recent games were Wednesday, Thursday and lastly Saturday. They didn't have their best pitcher available. Plus, their starting catcher got injured.

As always, a GREAT competition, with a lot of entertaining games, and some great plays.

The best team won, but my question is the Chinese coach wanted to win to make up for the loss in 2015. He said he realized you had to have more pitching, so he got that….how do you “get more pitching” when Little League is supposed to be based on where you live? The big cheating that’s going on these days with Little League is not the age, it’s the boundaries. I saw a lot of that back when I coached.
